Sakura pouted at missing her idol... again. Many people, including her own friends, thought that Sakura had a crush on Ryu, but that wasn't really the case. She wasn't interested in Ryu that way. It was just that he was an ideal she could shoot for. That was why she tried to meet him whenever she could - he might always decline to take her on as a student, but she usually learned something more of the Ansatsuken just by watching him in person.
Of course, the only reason Ryu probably even talked to her was that she was one of the few people who could figure out his allegories without needing him to elaborate...
Ranma was quite glad to see Sakura, though. She was perhaps the only female martial artist near his age he'd ever met that hadn't wanted to be his girlfriend at some point or another. Now, if only she and Rock would just break down and admit that they liked each other...
"So, Ranma." Sakura said finally. "What are you doing back in Japan already? Did... um... Rock come with you."
Ranma wanted to laugh at seeing the slight blush Sakura had when she mentioned his foster-brother's name. He didn't because it would hurt too much, but he wanted to. "Sorry, Sakura. I don't really know how I got here. One minute I'm in South Town, the next I'm in Tokyo."
Sakura blinked. "Oh. One of those things again?"
Ranma nodded. That was another thing he liked about Sakura... she never doubted the strange things that tended to happen around him. Then again, Sakura had her own experiences with such, if she was to be believed. (She claimed that she one time ended up in some alternate reality New York, where she and a bunch of other people had to fight some super-powered Demon-Monster thing called Onslaught. Ranma was about the only one who believed her, and he was just thankful that it hadn't been him that time.)
"Anyway," he said, "I still need to get a hold of Rock. Want to come along?"
Sakura tried to look uninterested. "Sure."
Neither quite realized that the reporters were still taping this. The tabloids were going to have a field day...
And so Ranma and Sakura left. Neither noticed the bandaged up, middle-aged men that arrived as they were leaving.
Having missed Ranma, Genma and Soun decided to spill their 'side' of the story to the reporters, certain that public pressure will force Ranma to comply to their wishes...
