It would be some time before anything noticeable occured, as new cells replaced the old, but a permanent change had been worked in the DNA codes of several people throughout Tokyo-3.

In fact, the first sign would come a week later, when the first of the infected started showing some physical signs of the change in their species.

• Misato, who swears that her ears look different somehow (mammal)
• Ritsuko, who seems to have a skin disorder of some kind, it keeps flaking off (reptile)
• Rei, who seems to feel much lighter of late (bird)
• Maya, who's starting to swim a lot more than usual (fish/amphibian)
• Asuka, who's starting to get more hyperactive and aggressive (insect)
• somebody else, or mix and match the above...
