“What are they doing?” asked Brianna, watching with Gina, as the two ... were-creatures? ... sat around, eyes closed, trying to do something.
“Not a clue,” said Gina. “But I don’t remember one record of a were-creature like them.”
“Well, it may not have been one Iceron originally did in our universe,” said Brianna.
Gina nodded. “Then they could have other problems that we don’t know about, or maybe none of the drawbacks that dunce built into them.”
That excited the scientific natures in both girls. If the two new weres were immune to silver, or even had a reduced or zero thrall effect, it opened a lot of possibilities if such abilities could be copied to other weres. With that, Britanny might even be able to bring back the were-cheetahs ... if she had volunteers to try it out on.
“Maybe we should introduce ourselves,” said Gina; her idea in no way influenced by the sight of the body of the naked were. No-sir-re, it was purely in the hope of friendship. “I mean, we can’t get much more data from here, since someone left her Wild Weasel back at home.”
Brianna pouted. “But I needed more room for the weapons. How was I supposed to know we were going to do this sneakily?”
“I don’t think this is working,” mumbled Ranma.
Nabiki let out a sigh she had been holding. She knew it was a long-shot that Jusenkyo experience would have helped them at the moment. “Yeah,” she muttered, looking towards her clothes, and wondering exactly not only how much she’d have to tear them to get them on, but how she was going to explain this to her family.
The truth was definitely out. No way in Hell was she going to admit to a mistake of this magnitude. The fiancées would have her gutted and turned into a new dress before lunch time.
So it was going to have to be the old fall-back idea.
This was all Genma’s fault.
It was the truth ... partially. If he had done his job as a parent and made certain Ranma had an education, then the pigtailed boy would have been smart enough to word his own wish, and not bring it to her.
Of course, what would make it truly believable would be the weaving in of what would be the most likely reason for it to be Genma’s fault. She would claim someone Genma had also promised Ranma to—and defaulted on as usual—came to the Dojo to exact revenge for the dishonor. After hearing that Ranma was to marry a Tendo, and that Genma seemed to actually care about it, they hit both of them with a spell of some sorts, thinking Nabiki was that Tendo.
And there you have it, a reasonable excuse for why both were now were-bats.
Of course, it still needed some more details; a description of the attacker might help. Then she had to ensure Ranma didn’t spill the truth, or she was as good a filleted.
“Damn, it’s bigger up close!”
The two quickly stood, Ranma standing in front of Nabiki to protect her from the two girls who had snuck up on them while they were deep in meditation. “Who are ya?”
The shorted one looked towards him, as did the taller one, neither one replying.
Nabiki snorted. “His eyes are a little higher, girls,” she said, knowing full well what had their attention.
Ranma blinked, before looking down, and realizing what they were staring at. He seemed to fade for a split second, as he ran and quickly gathered their clothes, handing Nabiki hers, as he placed his to cover his modesty.
Sighing at the fact the free show was over, the two girls looked them in the eyes now. “Well,” said the taller, “I am Brianna Diggers, and this is my sister Gina. We’re here to help you.”
