Hero of Rokugan (Crab): Me, You and Kyu [Episode 6702]

by Musouka

She was headed towards Ranma's chambers as soon as she heard that he had fallen ill, hoping that she could help in his healing. Kuni Tora was one of the most talented and brightest shugenja within the clan, she was gifted with the ability to heal without calling for the blessings of the kami. This would have made her invaluable to the Crab as even the kami and the elements were corrupt and twisted in the Shadowlands had her body not been weak and frail.

'He is probably already dead or tainted. Either way the result is the same. ' a voice whispered in her ear.

‘He is stronger than that! His will is as strong as the Wall. He will not fall to some disease or allow himself to join the Shadowlands.’ She argued back.

‘They said the same of your father didn’t they?’ the voice replied. Kuni Tomo was once one of the most knowledgeable experts the Crab had on spirit possession and the effects of the Taint, often collaborating with Kuni Yori. He was actually one of the very few people, if not the only one, who was not intimidated by the Kuni daimyo. He took on Tora after she expressed her interest in becoming a shugenja.

They were conducting some experiments on a peasant possessed by a Tainted spirit trying to separate the Taint from a spirit when the binding spells failed and the spirit was set free. Tomo was able to cast an experimental spell to bind the spirit’s Taint to his body. The spell backfired and bound the spirit to Tora. Tomo, hoping to save his daughter from the Taint, ran towards the Shadowlands leaving his daughter behind.
