"Um... well, it's a long story, but-- Incoming!" Hikaru yelped, pointing down the street.
Michiru and Haruka turned to look together. A few battered pod-people continued to lurch towards them from the greasy swath of Minako's driving expertise, either not noticing the missing limbs, or simply not caring.
Behind the mess, however, obvious backup was arriving in the form of dozens of pod-people in full police riot gear and a large armored vans that plowed down the street. In surreal silence, as the vans did not run their silence, they slipped, losing traction across the band of smashed pod-people, spinning around and slamming into the sides of nearby buildings.
The girls stared, blinking, as the scene came to a quiet halt once more.
"Well, that was different," Haruka said, brushing nonexistant dust from her outfit in an attempt to calm herself.
As soon as she spoke, pod-people in riot gear began to pour out of the van's doors, plexiglass shields raised, and marching in formation. At least a handful of them bore guns, that the girls saw.
"Um... do we want to toast these things, or run?" Hikaru asked nervously. "There's, well, kind of a lot of them."
