Dark General Jaedite -- or at least the pod person that looked like him, anyway -- squinted. "And... whoever she is! Destroy her as well!" The simacrula advanced at his command, dead eyes boring into their targets.
Bolts of flame and spheres of energy tore into their ranks, but the emotionless plant-men just kept coming. Clamoring over a semicircle of plant chunks to get at their prey, they were cut down only to reveal more just behind them.
The attacks were tiring our Senshi plus one, but they had managed to prevent anything from getting to within a few meters of them. They would be exhausted evenutally, but eventually just wasn't fast enough for Jaedite -- Monk was on in twenty minutes, and he hadn't set up his VCR. The Dark General hovered above the throng of the mindless and began to fire bolts of pure evil energy.
"You were a thorn in my side for too long, Sailor Senshi, but now it's time to die. With you dead, I shall usher in a New World Order!"
Minako leapt, a blast of energy scorching the spot where she stood seconds earlier. "How dare you!" she cried, "How dare you copy people like this! People deserve the chance to feel emotions like love and happiness -- even if those people are evil like Jaedite was!"
Jaedite laughed, a well-practised skill. "As great as you say love is, it will not be able to stop you now..." He paused, and thought for a second. "Wait, what did you mean by 'copy'?"
"Don't play dumb, you, you, you you POD! You copied Jaedite's body while he was asleep, just like you did for everyone here!"
Jaedite stopped throwing energy blasts. "What the hell are you talking about? I cast a spell to finally turn the hearts of the people against you and into my control... where are you getting this copy stuff?"
By this point, Minako was really confused, and would have been bit by a pod person had not Michiru blasted the creature away from the distracted Senshi. "But, these are all pod people, trying to get us so they can make us into pod people too... how come you don't know that?"
"How can that be? I ordered them to kill you, and they..." Jaedite stopped and looked around as the pod-people continued to attack the magical girls. "Hey! Loyal soldiers! Let the Senshi go!" he barked, to no effect. He watched them continue to shuffle at the warriors of justice for about fifteen more seconds before saying "ooohhhhhhh...."
Michiru and Haruka shared a look of disbelief coupled with extreme amusement.
"Well, this is embarassing! They must have thought I was one of them, so instead of trying to get me, they went for OW GOD DAMN IT GET OFF OF ME!"
Jaedite's protestations were muffled as the pod people, now seeing past the dark magic obscuring him and realizing he was not one of their own, grabbed him by the ankles and pulled him into a giant heap of their number.
