"Lucky you," said Makoto. "I've got another half hour just to fill out these forms."
"I feel your pain," said Aoba. "Maybe we'll feel better after some downtime and this'll all make sense!"
The two bridge officers thought about that momentarily. "Nah," they chorused.
"Try to get out of here as soon as you can," suggested Aoba. "I think the Commander is about ready to blow a gasket."
"Maybe," hedged Makoto. "There's something weird going on here, and I don't think I have all the clues myself."
"Meow," said a cat as it exited the control room.
"Any idea where those are coming from?" Aoba asked. "The past few hours they've been turning up everywhere."
Makoto rubbed the bridge of his nose as if he was getting a headache. "Think some wiseacre brought in a box of them and released them in the maintenance hub. Oh and two of the women over in Technical Division #2 have been added to the missing list. They were last reported to be checking some faulty wiring in one of the air shafts leading down to Terminal Dogma but never reported back. So be sure to call in when you've arrived at your apartment."
"Got it," agreed Aoba. "Good night."
Rei Bunny snuck along, using her full stealth abilities as the bouncy catgirl playbunny.
Which actually wasn't that stealthy.
"Target acquired," said Rei as she noticed the Section 2 Flunkie. Black sunglasses. Black suit. Black flats. Very unflattering but it was a work uniform after all.
Section 2 was 98% male and tough guys. Secret service types. There were a few women among its ranks.
"Rei Bunny - SWIPE!"
The Section 2 Flunkie stared at the sight of a Rei Ayanami catgirl wearing a swimsuit, though she was also trying to draw a gun as the changes hit, and then reversed themselves.
Rei stared as the statue failed. "How'd that happen?"
"I follow orders," said the Section 2 Flunkie. Now the gun was pointing square at the overendowed Rei. "You will come with me."
"Gainax bounce," said Rei Bunny, beginning her attack.
"What?! That's..." The blacksuited security agent stared as the bunnycatgirl bounced and jiggled and posed. "Is that even anatomically possible?"
Rei Bunny smiled, then ran around the corner away from the dazed agent.
There were other mousies in the sea, after all.
"I can't believe this," said Shinji, trying to curl into a little ball. "How can this be happening?!"
"You remember that little statue you had?" Ritsuko brought up, unashamedly displaying that at least now she was indeed blonde.
"Wait. Who's got it?" Misato asked, a little alarm going off in her head.
"You don't have it?" Rei Hakubi asked Ritsuko.
"You mean you don't have it?" Ritsuko asked Rei Hakubi.
"Who..." Asuka's voice trailed off. "Mein gott."
"That should be goddess," pointed out one of the Rei that was still naked and therefore hard to tell which one this was.
"This could be a problem," said Ritsuko, coming to the same conclusion as Asuka.
