Just then the answer to the gaijin girl's weird behavior made itself known to Ranma. She was a front-roof witness to the girl's confrontation with a gang of muggers in the latest cemetary shortcut. Normally Ranma would have immediately jumped in to save the girl, but something about the girl's behavior and how she held herself made Ranma think that just maybe the girl could handle this herself.
Thus Ranma was able to witness a beat-down that made Akane's early morning fights seem like amateur's work.
Ranma was shocked badly by the way the girl had ended the fight with her first assailant.. it's not every day that you see a man burst into dust particles before your very eyes.
"Vampire.." Ranma said in shock. This wasn't the first time she had seen a vampire.. but they were rare. Now that Ranma knew this place she found herself in had a population of them, however, she'd have to remember to keep on the lookout for them..
Vamps were easy to spot after all.. just look for a body that has no ki to it whatsoever nor anything else. Even the weakest of babies or dying bodies had traces of ki within them, and even the best martial arts technique of hiding your power left a trace behind.
Sure enough, when Ranma set her senses to the fight the only one of the five still fighting combatants with any power was the girl, who surprisingly enough had enough by herself that Ranma had mistook her single lifeforce to be belonging to all of the fighters combined.
'Whoah! She's good.. not as good as me though of course.' Ranma thought with a confident grin on her face.
Finally the girl had taken out the last of the vamp squad and returned to her movements through the streets, which Ranma now understood to be some form of a patrol schedule.
Ranma was about to introduce herself to the girl and congratulate her on the victory when Ranma saw another man walking up on the girl from behind.
This man was a vamp as well, but unlike the ones in the cemetary she did not appear to be aware of his approach. 'Kami.. he's going to kill her!' Ranma thought and without having to think about it had leaped down to attack the vampire.
"I'm not going to let you hurt her, demon!" Ranma swore to the startled vampire, while the even more startled blond watched in confusion.
The vamp hurriedly tried to call out, "No! Wait! I'm not.." but whatever it was he was about to say was lost as Ranma had yanked the head from his shoulders, turning him into dust in the wind.
The blond stared in shock as she stammered out, "H-he was a v-vamp?! Why was he h-helping us?!"
