But Shinji Ikari was trying anyway. He'd been coaxed, or rather pretty much forced to sit down and take a breather. That didn't help with the way that his mind was trying to work out how something like this could have come about. All he had wanted was to just buy the statue and hopefully have a knicknack for his room. Yet, that did not seem to be the case as he was discovering how everything had become rather insane as he could remember bedding ten girls, six of whom with the same basic appearance, and now he was having to face the music.
Which was apparently in the tones of a rather grumpy Asuka. "I can't believe this is happening."
"I'm sorry about that," he told her hesitantly.
She rolled her eyes and shifted her position on his lap. "You didn't do anything. But we should have known what was going to happen."
"I guess... What did happen? I mean... why aren't you bashing me for what I did?"
"Why would we?"
"I... you know..."
"Didn't do anything that we didn't really like, so stop apologising for that."
"Uh... Okay..."
"That's a good boy," the redhead told him and cuddled up to his chest, "It still leaves us with our original problem though."
"What is that?"
"The damned bunnygirl, that's what!"
"Huh?"
"She's big trouble, remember?"
"Asuka?" went Ritsuko from where she had been using a cell phone.
"What?"
"I don't think that he's met her yet."
"Oh..."
"Yeah, the only other two he has weren't her," Misato commented as she headed for the kitchen.
"So..," asked Shinji, "What's the big deal?"
"The 'big deal' is that she's not exactly a safe person to have the statue."
Asuka nodded. "Bunny Rei is a ditz who isn't terribly smart, but really... enthusiastic."
"Don't forget that she's a bit... busty and not afraid to use it," commented one of the Reis.
"That's right, but I was trying to forget."
"And that means that she's going to just go around changing people?" asked the sole male in the room.
"Exactly. And now we have to find her before she gets into trouble."
"All right... So can I ask one question?"
"Yes?"
"Why aren't any of you getting dressed?"
A group of flat stares came back at him. "Why?"
"Because... You're not... and I'm..," he said, as his face reddened.
The catgirl mage in his lap grinned at him. "Don't worry Shinji. There'll be plenty of time for that later."
Shinji groaned.
At a table... someplace, sat a group of figures. Each had what looked to be a combination of age and power that would belie their appearances, if they didn't fit so well. But what was odd was the obvious differences in origin that each of them were there each from different places.
"So, Ptah, what is it that Bast is up to?" asked one figure.
Another male smirked. "Exactly what you think Raijin. She is bringing her power back in a big way."
"And in my neck of the woods."
"Among other places. It is spreading rather quickly."
"Which is why we came together like this."
A tall blond nodded. "Yes. It is good to see such things happening, and this is our chance to strike hard for our own paths."
"Must you speak in such crass terms Thor?" asked a feminine voice.
"I do only as is my nature Athena."
"Yes, well, I do agree that it has come high time for all of us to exert our influence."
"What she said," another female agreed, "While we're not out to totally bring back our positions, even as nice as it would be, we'd like to bring about some things that have fallen by the wayside over time."
Ptah nodded. "You wish for it to become a mixture, do you Morrigan?"
"But of course. It might be interesting to see elves playing games with kitsune, or valkyries fighting along side catgirls."
"I see..."
"Does Bast not approve?" asked Athena.
The Egyptian god of creating smiled as he folded his hands on the table. "Quite the opposite. She's looking foward to having you all at her festival."
A grin grew to be shared among the others, while:
