"... the kami have chosen me for a quest and taught me some of their secrets" There, that should placate them. Ranma knew that it was impossible to prove (or disprove). In Rokugan, a samurai's word was taken for truth and only a duel could force someone to retract himself. Living with Nabiki and dating a scorpion had been instructive.
Kisada spoke with a sarcastic voice "And you felt that with their protection, you could just discard common sense and the traditions of our clan ? I've not raised you to be such a fool, Ranma ! I find your story doubtful, to say the least..."
Ranma frowned "Do you question my word, father ? You have no idea what it is like to receive the kami's blessings. Yes, my judgement was impaired and I am the one who regret it the most !" Ranma mustered all his talents for acting, rokugani society favored sincerity over truth. He had to convince them he believed earnestly in what he was saying !
Kisada relented "I believe you, my son. However, we have to talk" He threw imperious looks to Kimuri and kyoko "In private !"
The two women bowed respectuously and left father and son to their discussion. Asako Kimuri went back to her room. She had to consult with Isawa Kiima and write a letter to tell her clan of what she had learned. Bayushi Kyoko did the same but promised herself that she and Ranma would talk later about what happened. She was scorpion and knew that her beloved hadn't been completely honest.
Kisada led Ranma to the same room where he and Kimuri had their talk. The Great Bear didn't order for sake this time and closed the doors. He motioned his son to sit down and followed suit.
"Now, samurai. It is your daimyo who ask you this : What do you know of Fu-Leng's return ?"
Ranma began to sweat. How was he going to answer this one without tipping his whole hand ?
