The Swarm: The calm before... [Episode 70846]

by Onion Slime (^_^)

The fall was long.

Very, Very long.

The wind whipped past violently, battering the long coil of hair the man sported. Every fiber of his body screamed in ecstasy as the ground came ever nearer. Every hair stood on end, sending messages about wind direction and speed to his brain while organs in his ears sent information about altitude. His eyes watered, blurring his view slightly, as he waited for the right time.

Not yet...

Not yet...

...

NOW!

Ranma twisted in the air, aiming his feet on the approaching bit of tower, not having thrown himself far enough to clear it entirely. In a feat that would leave physicists puzzled his feet landed and redirected the force, launching the martial artist like a rocket toward Nerima ward and leaving the tower completely undamaged.

The feat was repeated, each time bring him closer to the nest. The view would have normally been enough to fill his heart with joy, but the destruction the creatures had wrought was disheartening. The streets of what was once one of the most populated cities on earth were nearly empty. Bodies of the dead lay rotting in the open, not all bearing the signs of Wasp-girl attack.

As he approached the building became more and more destitute, having been gutted by looters, fire, or Wasp-girl workers.

Landing on a particularly barren high rise he nearly fell. The building shifted under his powerful leap, taking nearly all of the energy from it. He still had enough to make it to a nearly intact building across the street though, and landed there just as the high rise collapsed, covering the area in dust. He coughed violently and cursed his luck. If more building were gutted to the point of no support he might have a bit of a problem.

There were no trains running in the city. Trains and cars attracted the Wasp-girls like flies on shit.

"Thank god there aren't Fly-girls or this could get nasty," Ranma joked to himself. Brushing off the dust from his blue tangs and black pants he looked around, a bit surprised at his progress. The trail of Wasp-girls were coming closer to his position, but not close enough that any of them had broken away to attack him.

"If I hurry, I might make it before they get that close," he muttered, not really liking his chances if he didn't make it in time.
