The kitchen was quite, then came the sound of 'slurp' and 'gulp' followed by Akane's scream. "Give her back!" she demanded hoarsely, then started shaking the little pink monster.
"Akane!" Kasumi demanded as she arrived to intervine. "What has gotten into you?"
"Tha... that thing ate Nabiki!"
"Oh, not that again!" Kasumi sighed as she hugged the adorable cannibal. She stood up and began chiding her sister, "Akane, I know it's hard not to be jealous of your new little sister, but you really must stop making up these stories."
"But, but, she did," vehemently protested Akane. "She swallowed Nabiki whole. I saw her. Look!"
'Hack, spittoie,' belched the cute abomination behind Kasumi's back.
"What?" the older girl demanded as she turned to find Nabiki sprawled over her clean linolium covered in saliva. "Nabiki! What happened?"
"Eh, what?" Nabiki coughed. "I dunno. The last thing I remember was coming in here to get a snack. Then everything went dark and I dreamed I was in a world with an orange sky and sodapop seas."
"Akane!" exclaimed Kasumi in horror. "How many times have I told you not to cook in my kitchen!"
"But, but," sputtered Akane.
"Hello, hello, what's all this then?" demanded Soun as he poked his head in the door.
"I can explain everything through interpretive dance!" said the little horror, and she began carpering.
Weda fanned herself in the jungle heat as she lay back to watch Ranma play with Hale. It was good to watch her son adore his adopted father, even if they did seem more like brothers, and to know that despite his youth, her new husband had the makings of a good father. Especially with another child on the way.
Hale had been hesitant when she first brought Ranma home, but had soon warmed up to him. Ranma fit in well to the idolic life among a hunter gather society with all the modern conviences ~ practicing his art in the jungle, playing with his new son, partying with Weda and giving her something else to do other than partying and drinking to forget her past.
In the jungle, everything was fine, then came Ranma and everything was better.
"Wai! Wai!" cheered Kasumi. "That was adorable, Guu!"
"That explained nothing!" Akane stated.
"It's not my fault you can't understand interpretive dance," pouted the diminutive fiend.
"Really, sis, stop being mean to Guu," Nabiki said. "She's such a little sweety I could just eat her all up."
"Like she just did to you!" Akane protested shrilly.
"That's enough," Soun said. "Akane, go to your room!"
"Oh, but the soup's nearly ready," Kasumi protested.
"But Daddy," Akane wailed.
"No! No soup for you!"
"This is so unfair," Akane bemoaned as she polished her shinai. "They're all completely taken in by that... that... thing! It's up to me to protect my family before it eats them all!"
