Ryoga came out of the same spring but was not a red dragon. Nope. Where Ranma was a fast flier, Ryoga was a thicker bodied one, stubbier winged, heavier armored. Slow, except when he was in the water.
A turtle sort of dragon whose breath weapon was a blast of water.
Ranma was about six feet long, with about three feet additional of tail. Typical winged Western style dragon - weighing about two hundred twenty pounds.
Ryoga in dragon form was about seven feet long with a puny little one foot tail. Though if pulled his armored body into his shell, it was closer to five feet. He weighed in though at about seven hundred pounds.
He could not, as Ranma's new memories attested, spin around like Gamera and fly. Ryoga's last three attempts had demonstrated that his shell was darn near indestructible but that he could still give himself a massive headache from being slammed around in it.
Ranma surged forward, wings thrusting, and attained flight. Funny, it was always hardest to do the takeoff. Once he'd gotten some altitude it was always easier to remain aloft.
As he glided back to the Tendo house, he let his memories go back to that day long ago when he'd arrived.
A rainy day - no change there. He'd landed with a badly singed panda, who for some reason had failed to divulge why they were going to the Tendo dojo. Probably because the panda had figured that the dragon would just fly off and leave him behind. Ranma reflected that this was probably correct.
So he'd landed, walked past a stunned group as he found the kitchen, boiled some water -
And Akane had attacked him. That was right. None of this "can we be friends" because she wasn't dealing with a fellow girl. She was dealing with a dragon who'd just busied himself at the stove and fixed a teapot of hot water. Let's see. Hmmm. She'd attempted to kill him, and he'd tail-slapped her into the wall.
No. In this timeline he and Akane didn't get along that well. Just like she remembered him in the bath being a pervert, she'd run into the dragon and seen a monster. A monster that could take her best punch and shrug it off. The initial meeting of Ranma-ryu and Akane had been actually worse than the meeting of Ranma-chan and Akane.
Kasumi hadn't been interested, though apparently she liked the idea of going for flights. Nabiki hadn't been interested, though she had tried to sell dragonblood and scales until she'd tried to collect them and had discovered that the wise do not disturb sleeping dragons. (Dragon reflexes and instincts kept doing things like that.)
There hadn't been any yelling or nastiness, just three girls who had at first been afraid that dragons ate virgins or something. Pfeh. Like how was he supposed to tell? His sense of smell wasn't that good. After the initial explanations, there still hadn't been any real connection.
Landing in the yard behind the house with a thump, Ranma tried to recall which one he was engaged to. Oh yeah. It was:
