The majority of the prospective shareholders walked away thinking the companys' projects too outlandish to prosper. Thus the budding GENOM corporation was largely abandoned.
Ranma had been sold on it after talking to an excited young scientist called Stingray. That guy was a genius! Even though Ranma only had the basics of computers down (and that due to night courses) he recognized that the advancements made here could very well blossom into something huge!
Its' computer and A.I. technology were rapidly snapped up mostly by government departments and the JSDF who had taken intrest in the companys' advanced robotics, avoiding computer controlled weapons wearily.
These contracts and the remarkable results of such resulted in a massive jump in share price and very solid dividends. Ranma had purchased about a million yen of the shares. The returns had almost equalled half that in three months and the worth of his shares quintupled!
And that Ranma knew was when things tended to go bust!
That and the exciteable Stingrays' talk of patterning A.I.s off human brain activity by growing a nanotech core in one, his boomer project, convinced Ranma to pull out of GENOM.
Even with amazing profit he couldn't support a company that'd allow such a thing. Ranma was not Nabiki. A good thing too. If he'd stayed with GENOM who knows what the currently unborn Knight Sabres would do to him in his twilight years ( well his 60's at any rate)?!
