Elfguest: Kodachi's tripping [Episode 73664]

by Kestral

Sailor Pluto had not yet met the Inner Scouts, at least as far as they were concerned.

They had just fought Beryl and been living out lives as normal girls when the appearance of a demonic spider served as a wakeup call to bring them out and into a royal smackdown (Usagi was a princess after all) of said demon.

Sailor Pluto, protected from paradox, tried to figure out what the heck had happened to her nice orderly timestream.

Hmmm. Looked like a major intrusion into the timestream from elsewhere. These individual flashes were too quick and small to do much with but this was a big enough buildup that she could push it over there.

Now she could at least see what the heck it was.

Thereby she missed a number of Senshi heading towards Nerima.

crickle crackle

Lightning began to form a circle in midair.

After the slime demon tentacle thing had appeared at the Japanese Self Defense Force base, headquarters had slapped a lid on the event except that private tapes and too many individuals had witnessed it.

Naturally, the Australians and the Americans, both of whom were interested in goings on in Japan involving supernatural evil menaces, wanted details.

Some blood and pieces of demon that had not vanished were going through all sorts of analyses. Making the scientific crowd very very happy as this was certainly justifying their paychecks as well as making visions of international awards dance through various heads.

So here was a big circle in midair, appearing right where the demon had fallen, as something was coming through from wherever the demon went.

The reaction of the military was predictable as they were generally not complete idiots.

The gate took nearly two minutes to form, and an army marched through it in another five minutes.

Wanting to one-up Menzonobarren had been the city of Ixitlya. They had gotten a superior force of their best warriors, goblin mercenaries, slave soldiers, and others together and prepared to slaughter and enslave the home village of the Sorcerer who had embarassed the primary drow city.

They gathered together in the gloom of early evening, in what was apparently a central square surrounded by odd metal houses, using their nightvision to determine that none of the humans were out and about this night.

The gateway behind them closed. A signal was given, they drew weapons and prepared to go forth in an orgy of violence.

A brief whistle preceded three burning sunlets flaring overhead and causing momentary disorientation for the invading forces.

A voice called out demands in some odd language briefly.

As a reply, one of the mages made a complex gesture and summoned an earth elemental.

"They're not surrendering! Fire at will! Repeat: Fire at will!"

Some of the targets clearly were surrendering as the big guy came apart in a series of explosions. Some of them tossed their weapons aside and hugged the Earth.

While some of the tank missiles did not penetrate the +5 Drow Plate Armor some of the fighters wore, the impact force was sufficient to throw those wearing the armor through their own troops.

Missiles and machine gun fire came down upon the demons like the wrath of a god whom you really didn't want to face even if you did have a Crossbow +3. Since the previous demon hadn't been wounded by small arms fire, the big guns were the first to be used in this exchange.

Some of the drow forces either had wings or fly spells and quickly shot above the conflict so that they could rain death on the human forces.

Attack helicopters and jets were already scrambled.

Kodachi looked over the backpack. Fairly stylish, she thought, with the black rose applique and sewn on borders. The material was unfamiliar and neither leather nor a fabric she recognized - a sort of mottled gray that served to blend in somehow with the brown of the dojo floor.

As she had been looking for a new direction in life, a backpack suggested travel. Perhaps a journey of self-discovery like the epic poet Matsuo Basho, whose journey to northwest Japan became the Oku No Hosumichi?

Kodachi found herself beginning to like this idea. Yes, a journey of healing and self-discovery through rugged wilderness. Away from her brother. (Definitely a plus.) She could get her priorities straight and observe the sublime beauty of her homeland. Perhaps write some haiku while she was at it.

Kodachi slung her backpack onto her back and began her trip home. She'd just pack a few essentials and plan her trip. Or...

The thought brought a smile to Kodachi's face that would have shocked any of those who knew her. It was not a cruel or seductive smile, but rather a pleased one as might be held by an ordinary girl at a pleasant thought. Perhaps the elves' homeland. She could get directions. Surely elves would have breathtaking ancient forests and the like!

The deck had glowed and reshuffled itself and settled into its niche in the book again.

There was currently an argument about what to do about it.

Akane, having gotten back from her "discussion" with Gosunkugi about nude pictures of herself in his photo album, wanted to draw a card.

Shampoo, having arrived to check up on Ranma and the elves (and make sure Ranma not sample elven muffins due to misunderstanding a reference to faerie food) was also insisting on a card draw. After seeing Nabiki as a dark elf she was hoping for Akane to draw a card and turn into a smurf. She was also looking at a sword with some envy.

Ukyo was in her cafe, having the feeling she was missing out on something, but not at all sure what.

Sanri, Unri, and Nabiki (the three drow elves) were all saying how dangerous it was.

Soun and Genma were crying about the opportunity denied them to unite the two families.

Kasumi was holding Stonecutter and wondering if she could get Ryoga to bring by some large rocks so she could properly try out the magic blade.

Ranma was wondering if dinner was going to be late and hadn't anyone else realized that random magic was dang dangerous?! Look at Jusenkyo for cryin' out loud.

Naturally this situation couldn't continue forever and it ended with:
