"Mommy!" declared the little figure as it looked up at him.
"EH?!" went Ranma as he stared at it, "What does that mean?!"
Seta peered down at the turtle and looked thoughtful. "It seems that the little fellow's imprinted on you..."
"'Imprinted'?"
"Well, animals get attached to what they see when first hatch or whatever."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that it thinks that you're its parent."
"But I'm not anything of the sort!"
"I know that, but that doesn't matter to this little one," the professor told him, "As far as its concerned, you are its mother."
"I'm a guy!" Ranma blurted and looked to his 'child'. "You don't think that I'm a girl, do ya?"
"Mommy!" chirped the little turtle.
"Argh! If ya are gonna think that I'm your parent, then get it right!"
"Mommy?"
"I'm not your mommy!"
"Hmmm?" whimped the small creature as it withdrew a bit of fear.
"Eh... sorry 'bout that little guy, but I'm not a girl," the martial artist told it with a bit of a reassuring smile, "Not 'Mommy'. Daddy."
"Uh?"
"C'mon. Say it. I'm your Daddy, 'kay?"
"Ooh?"
"Da-ddy."
"Ah!"
"Ya got it?" he said hopefully.
"Mommy!"
If he wouldn't have hurt the baby, Ranma would have keeled over in shock.
"Mommy!"
"Guess it's not going to change it's mind," Seta idly commented.
"Just my luck..," muttered Ranma, as he lifted the turtle to his face.
"Mommy..," the baby sighed happily as it rubbed its face against his.
"Great... I guess I'm gonna have ta work on this..."
