Meanwhile, across the table...
"Stupid old man! How am I supposed to have the strength to train if you're eating all my food?" Ranma shouted at the figure standing on his head, "And don't you give me that stupid line that this is part of my training too!" Genma's only reply was the sound of chopsticks on porcelain.
After a few more minutes in which Genma showed no sign of moving, Yumi finally decided that enough was enough. Unless she did something, nobody would be able to eat in peace. Now because of Tatewaki's repeated attempts to date her, Yumi had taken to carrying a small arsenal of defensive tools on her person. It was from this that she swiftly extracted a small habanero pepper and, unnoticed by anybody else, flicked it into Genma's mouth.
Within seconds, Genma went from looking like he was the smartest man in the world (which he most definitely was not) to looking as if his face were going to explode. To make it worse, Genma wasn't doing anything to demonstrate any intelligence whatsoever. It was quite the opposite. As anybody who has eaten hot foods knows, the chemicals which make hot peppers hot can't be diluted with water. This was exactly what Genma was attempting to do. In the process, he was spreading the heat throughout his mouth.
Meanwhile, Ranma, having managed to escape from under his father, was looking rather pleased.
"Serves you right old man." said Ranma. He then turned to Yumi and, in a move that brought confused glances from everyone else, thanked her. It seems that he'd noticed what Yumi had done.
Yumi hadn't been expecting this but she didn't feel like letting Ranma get the wrong idea. She coldly replied "It could have just as easily been you. I just want to eat in peace." And with Ranma looking a bit cowed, she returned to eating. Behind Ranma, Genma, being too stoic to scream, just continued to writhe.
