So, wanting to be a bit proactive for once, and not wishing to find out what was happening while being attacked, he headed over to where the girls were.
"Um... What's goin' on?" the pigtailed boy asked.
His mother looked up from the table and smiled at him. "Hello Ranma. You're back from your outing?"
"Ummm... yeah. But what's happenin' here? I leave for a little while and..."
A lavander haired woman looked him over and smiled to herself. "Hi, my name's Misato Katsuragi. And it's really nice ta meetcha!"
"Right... And ya just decided to come over?"
"Well.., my grandfather and your's... they engaged us."
For a moment the Saotome Heir's eyes went wide, but then he let out a large sigh. "So you're my fiancee too?"
"Looks that way."
"How many more do I got?"
"Actually..," Nodoka commented softly, "There are at least two more."
"Huh?"
His mother gestured to the girl sitting with her. "This is Rei. Your father and I met her mother when were out in the mountains and Genma... stole her father's food."
"Oh man..," her son muttered, "Lemme guess. They didn't take it well."
"Not at all, and what made it worse was the fact that Rei's mother is a yuki-onna, and would have frozen your father solid if I had not acted. But that means that..."
"She's my fiancee, right?" At the Saotome Matriarch's nod, he turned to the girl in question. "How d'ya do?"
"I am well," Rei said softly and gave him a steady look.
Something about her gaze seemed... odd to him, like a mix of feelings had passed before being back under control, and he repressed his reaction as he turned to the last of the girls. "And I suppose that ya are a fiancee too?"
"Well... technically I am," the shorthaired brunette told him.
"How can ya be 'technically' a fiancee?"
"Because I'm not about to force my oldest and childhood friend to marry me if he doesn't want to."
"You won't?"
"Not if you don't want to."
"D'we know each other?"
"We should, seeing as we used to spend a lot of time together."
"Ummm..."
"Don't strain what's there of your brain," came Nabiki's voice.
"HEY! It's just been a while! She's...uh... Her name is..."
"Perhaps this will help you," Nodoka told him and held out a photo to him.
Taking it, he examined the image and then peered at the girl before him just as realisation set in. "MAYA!"
"That's me!" the mentioned girl replied with a bright smile.
"I just didn't recognise ya. Ya grew up a lot since we were little."
"So did you..."
"What?"
"It's nothing..."
"Sorry 'bout not figurin' out sooner," Ranma told her as he rubbed the back of his head, "Ya just don't look quite the same as back when I said ya were looked like a boy in those overalls."
"And I got really upset..."
"And my Mom made me tell you that I was sorry. Funny thing was, I really was sorry..."
Both of them laughed and looked at each other with shared memories dancing in their eyes.
"This is very nice and all," murmured Nabiki, "But there are other problems happening."
"What is happening?" Ranma asked and:
