"The name's Makibi, Kiyone Makibi," the green haired woman told her, "And we were set up through some agreement through our clans."
"Oh?"
"You see both our clans were agents for the Emperor for a very long time, and worked closely together overthe generations. So close in fact, that we wound up with an agreement in which my family marries into his and vice versa. It's just that recently the Saotome lines have fallen in stature over time so it was a bit difficult to keep up with them. But now that we have, it's something that we can work on."
"And what exactly is it that you do any way?"
"I work for the government in the intelligence agencies."
"You're a spy?!" Nabiki blurted.
"I'm an agent."
Ranma stared at the older woman who'd just arrived and wondered what was happening. He'd been so used to having girls fight over, and with him, that having them come along and act so... nice, even to each other was just wierd. And to have one just arrive and still offer to help? There was little in his experience to understand it.
For her part, Kiyone kept a proper smile on her face, but on the inside she was giddy. Here was her chance to get away from the admittedly likable bane of her life and make something of her life. Instead of being stuck writing speeding tickets, she had the opportunity to rise in her profession, and not be forced to face piles of paperwork. Plus she would have a career where not only would she be able to come into contact with luxurious living, she was expected to do so on a regular basis. She, who had been so high in her class, would finally get the chance to work on cases of great importance, and with the latest gadgets at her disposal!
And she got to do it on Earth, a planet that she actually liked. All she had to do was to be engaged to this definately handsome young man. It wasn't exactly what she would have picked, but she wouldn't consider marrying him to be much of a sacrifice. Besides, she could always become a mentor or something to him, and they would be together for a long time. A possibly hunky boyfriend, a really cool job, and no Mihoshi... How much better could it get?
"Okay, so what do we have to do to get this show on the road?" Asuka asked.
Kiyone frowned and looked at Misato. "Well, you can get the radar readings on it, right?"
"I said so, didn't I?" replied the captain.
"Well, if you get them, then I can supply the transportation."
"Great, so that'll be one less thing to worry about."
"I will come as well," Rei told them, "My abilities may not be expected and are not as obvious as weapons would be."
"Hmph," went Asuka, "You're not about to leave me out of this. Besides, I can get some stuff to help too!"
Maya shrugged. "I wish I could go, but I can't, and I'm not really a fighter. But if you let me know what you're up against, I'm sure that I can get you the information you need, or run a message or something to someone who does."
"That works for me," agreed the Galaxy Policewoman-turned-secret agent, "We'll need someone here to keep an eye on things anyway."
"Oh my..," murmured Kasumi, " Isn't it wonderful? Ranma's new friends are planning a rescue for Akane."
Both fathers scowled at that. These girls were ruining their plans. They weren't supposed to do what they told Ranma to do!
"At least it looks better organized than the messes that usually come up from this sort of thing," Nabiki commented dryly.
Surprised by the freely offered assistance, Ranma nodded silently while:
