As Ranma prepared himself for whatever may happen between the two women, he suddenly found himself on a nearby roof - the very one he'd just fallen from. It was then that he heard another girl's voice.
"Don't worry, Ranma-kun, I've got you," she said. Ranma looked up at the voice and saw a girl with pink hair tied back in a ponytail. He couldn't help but notice that she wore martial artist's clothing; he wouldn't be surprised if she was very skilled, seeing as she snatched Ranma up and set him down in the blink of an eye without him even noticing.
"Uh... Okay?" Ranma muttered. Things were starting to conflict in poor Ranma's mind; he was angry at the girl for saving him (his pride had been damaged from having to be saved by a girl), thankful that she had saved him from possible doom (whether it was Akane or Shampoo and Ukyo), and a little... embarassed to be caught in that kind of situation.
"Hey! You there! You give back Ranma to Shampoo!" shouted the chinese amazon. "He coming back to Nekohanten with her!"
"With you?!" shouted Ukyo at Shampoo. "He was supposed to be my husband for Couples' Day at school!"
"...Are they usually like this?" said the pink-haired girl. As Ranma looked at her, he found himself unable to look away; he couldn't help but think that this girl was awfully attractive...
"Um... Ranma-kun?" said the girl. Suddenly, Ranma snapped back to reality, blushing lightly as he thought about what he was doing.
"Yeah?" said Ranma. The girl pointed down, and when Ranma looked, he noticed both Shampoo and Ukyo jumping up to their position. Not good... thought Ranma.
"Run... right?" asked the pink-haired girl. Ranma looked at her as if saying: "Duh." and shot off like a gun, the girl quickly following.
It seemed like forever before they finally lost Ukyo and Shampoo. Ranma leaned against a tree to catch his breath. Only when running from girls... he thought. ...could I ever get this tired. He then looked to the mystery girl.
"...So..." he said, when he finally regained his composure. "...Just how do you know who I am? Have we met before?" The girl looked to him and brushed her pink bangs away from her bright green eyes.
"Well, not personally, Ranma-kun. I've heard about you from Akane-chan, and since you pretty much stand out in a crowd, I figured it was you," she said. Akane told this girl about him?
"And just how do you know Akane?" asked Ranma. He wanted answers, and he wanted them now. Thankfully, she didn't seem to want to hide much from him.
"Well, I'm an old friend of hers," she said. "I'm Tsuhou Hikari. I used to train with Akane at the Tendo Dojo." She held out her hand to shake with Ranma, which he looked at for a second, then complied with a nod and a shake.
"So, you study the Anything-Goes School of Martial Arts?" asked Ranma. "You seem really good." Of course, not as good as me... he thought to himself.
"Yeah," Hikari said as she nodded. "I left a few years back to train in America with an old friend of Mr. Tendo's." Ranma nodded, then looked to a nearby clock, and his face suddenly sank.
"Oh no!" he shouted. "I'm late for class!"
