"(So what do you think?)"
"(I think he looks a lot better than that stewpot.)"
"(Maybe we can get him to rescue the rest of our group?)"
"(He did take those orcs down pretty quick. Let me do an Augury.)"
Ranma watched as one girl wrote a bunch of symbols in the snow and mud, then took out some prayer beads that she held suspended in the ring formed by the symbols. "(Oh gods of elves, can the human can help us free our comrades?)"
"(So, how are you, tall dark and violent?)"
Ranma heard the fluid syllables in a language he didn't know but the way the elf was looking at him seemed to indicate that she was talking to him. "I don't speak whatever that was."
"(Cute, for a human. Nice blue eyes. Really good build on him.)"
The prayer beads indicated another answer to another question, this one muttered under her breath.
"(Pity I don't know your language. I thought all humans spoke Comyn.)"
"(The gods have spoken,)" said the cleric. "(He can help us free the others, but the gods speak and say that if he does - we must help him as well.)"
"(Repaying a debt huh? I know one way I'd like to do it,)" said the thief. "(Hang on, I'm going to ask him to help.)"
Ranma stared as the one elf in leather armor took a stick and began to scratch crude figures. Three stick figures and she pointed at herself, her fellow, and Ranma. At a distance she put several other stick figures inside a circle, surrounded by other stick figures. She finished off by pointing at the stewpot and drawing a similar shape next to the figures outside the circle.
Ranma blinked. "Huh?"
The gal in leather armor then pointed at Ranma, made punching and kicking motions, then pointed at the stick figures outside the circle.
"Ya want me to go beat up some guys like these who have friends of yours?" Ranma asked. "Well, I guess. Is that it?"
"(He's probably asking what he gets out of the deal,)" guessed the thief. She began making gestures. The human nodded after a few minutes.
"(What'd you offer him?)" The cleric asked.
"(Us.)"
"(ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING LITTLE MIND?!)" The cleric asked, a little incensed at this.
"(Hey, he's cute. It's only for one night,)" offered the thief. "(What could be the harm?)"
Ranma wondered why the gal would be offering to get him a pendant like the two of them wore, but figured if he got something like that he'd have a birthday gift to give the next time things like that came around.
"(It could do a LOT of harm,)" insisted the cleric.
"(Well, in that case,)" said the thief.
