A door slammed open. "Oh my gosh! I'm gonna be late!"
Yuri began running. She hadn't even explained schedules, training, or ANYTHING!
Pixie slowly woke, feeling warm and comfortable. Now though she had to go play a trick on her trainer!
Slowly she lifted one of the buckets of water, straining her wings at the weight. This was gonna be good!
"Hello?"
Splash!
"QwEEEEEEE!"
"Hello," said Ranma, ignoring the drenched Pixie. "I'm Ranma Saotome of the Saotome Dojo."
"I'm Cynthia," said the newcomer. "I heard that you're going to start a new monster ranch in this area. I do registration for the Togle Monster Association. Nice to meet you."
Ranma scratched his head. "Yuri said something about registering with FIMA."
"FIMA is a different group entirely. Around here we use Togle Monster Association. Yuri didn't fill out some lines and that's what I'm here to get taken care of."
"Oh," said Ranma, still ignoring the Pixie as she tried to lift another bucket. "Well, as you see I kinda got my hands full. What info ya need?"
Yuri ran up just as Ranma, without looking, kicked the bucket of water a Pixie was trying to douse him with. Enough water hit his leg anyway that he shifted and became Ranma-chan.
Cynthia stared.
Yuri winced.
Pixie squeaked something with the bucket over her head.
"Hang on, I'll heat up some water." Ranma said.
"I think that's got it," said Cynthia, her eyes staring off into space. "Thank you, Mister Saotome."
Ranma watched the woman stagger off. "I don't think I've ever seen that reaction before."
"Urrrr," growled the Pixie, then stared at her trainer. "Qwee?"
"There'll be a cartman coming by with a load of lumber for you," said Yuri. "Uhm. Don't you want to change back?"
"I'd like to," admitted Ranma. "Got any hot water on ya?"
"Uhm, no."
"Then it'll have to wait," said Ranma turning an aura of incipient menace on and turning towards the Pixie. "In the meantime, if you've got that much energy."
"What's going on?" Cesare asked as he entered through the gate. "I just passed Cynthia and she looked as though she'd seen a ghost. Oh. Your curse?"
Ranma and Yuri nodded.
"Qwee?" asked the Pixie.
"Well, I just wanted to show you the arena where the battles take place," said Cesare.
"Great," said Ranma. "Maybe I can get some hot water at a concession stand. Yuri can stay here and make sure they deliver the building supplies."
"What?! But... I wanted to go too..."
"You've already seen them," said Cesare. "Come on, Ranma."
Ranma looked over the arena, and it was an arena, and frowned. Looked kinda like a sumo ring to him. Oh well, when in Osaka and all that.
"YOU?!"
Ranma blinked. "Hey, it's that Tee Hee chick!"
"THAT'S TEETEE!" yelled the woman. "Hmph. Brought a monster with you. Fitting. Only thing that's good for is fighting in a sandbox."
"Excuse me?" Ranma asked.
"Qweee!" seconded the Pixie.
"Kyahahahaha! At least you'll get to see my wonderful fighting style! That's more than a half-man like you is entitled to." Teetee snickered at her own wit.
"Excuse me?" Ranma repeated, deciding that he'd found someone with a more irritating laugh than Kodachi.
"Well," continued Teetee, "I suppose I could give you my autograph that would make your trip here worthwhile. Kyahahaha!"
"That mangy fleabag yours?" Ranma asked, pointing at a five foot tall rabbit.
"Kelarino? You obviously don't know quality, loser." Teetee laughed behind her hand as if she thought she'd made a clever comeback. "Kyahahahaha."
It was a pity Ranma couldn't see it, because he and his Pixie had the same flat "she is so going to get it" expression.
Ranma watched Rio, who apparently didn't talk to people much and talked to monsters a lot. At least according to Yuri.
She was talking to Pixie and nodding a lot.
Ranma shrugged. He had to get finished on these walls. He knew enough about the weather to feel the nip in the air and see the clouds and realize snow was on its way.
