Putting the tea-kettle back down onto the small stove Alex put it, Ranma turned to his fiancée. “Well, it’s a dinner with some old friends and...” Ranma stopped a moment as he needed to think of the right words. It wasn’t that he hated the Tendos, but not all of them were on good terms. “And old acquaintances...”
“Ah, I see...” Alex said. “But if they’re just friend, won’t how you’re dressed now be enough,” Alex said, indicating the white t-shirt, jeans, and boots Ranma was wearing. “I mean, you look pretty fine to me,” Alex said with a smile that was bordering on being a feline one.
Ranma smiled at Alex. He felt incredibly lucky that she did want him. She was so unique and had such a beauty all about her, be it her stunning looks, her wonderful personality, or her caring heart. She seemed to see the best in him, even when Ranma couldn’t see it himself. “I’m sure I do, but these are people I haven’t seen in half a decade and I want to be respectful,” Ranma said. He smiled at her and said, “Especially since I want them to know that I’ve found such a beautiful woman.”
Her smile widening, Alex said, “Aww... How sweet. You keep this up, and I might just give you some loving later tonight.”
Ranma smiled. He always liked loving. Of course, he had only finally gotten some last night, but hell, he was addicted this his furry, striped seductress of a fiancée. “Sure thing, but first I really need to get some clothing. And I know you have a good fashion sense.”
“Why thank you for saying so,” Alex said. “We’ll get some outfits for both of us.”
Raising an eyebrow, Ranma looked at Alex seriously. “Both of us?”
“Yes,” Alex said. “You said you want to meet these friends to tell them about us, didn’t you?” Alex asked. “I’m not doing anything tonight, so how about you one-up on telling them, by actually having your fiancée with you?”
“Alex,” Ranma started as he looked at Alex critically. “That might not be a good idea.”
Looking down, Alex pouted a little. “What’s wrong? Are you afraid I’ll embarrass you?” Alex asked. “I promise I won’t tell them any embarrassing stories,” Alex smirked, “Like your first flight, when you were using the control stick in reverse and got the helicopter caught in a tree.”
Blushing a little at remembering THAT accident, Ranma shook his head. “It’s not that. I’m afraid to have you there, personally,” Ranma said. “It’s not the fact I don’t want you there, I just don’t want them to see you.”
Alex squirmed a little under Ranma’s gaze. “Ranma...” Alex began slowly, nervously. “Are you ashamed to let people see me?” Alex asked a little worriedly. “I can honestly tell you I have a good deal of control over my changes. But... If you’re nervous about that, don’t worry... I’ll stay behind.”
Looking at his fiancée, Ranma sighed. She was starting to get upset, and that wasn’t a good thing. Ranma knew that Alex was the same way he had been when he had gotten his curse. Though he knew Alex was proud of her new abilities, she was also more than a little ashamed of them, and he knew her self-confidence was lower than it should be.
Sighing, Ranma walked over to Alex and he wrapped an arm around her. “It’s okay Alex. I’ll bring you with me.”
Looking her fiancé in the eyes, Alex asked, “You will?”
“Yeah,” Ranma said. Who knows. It might be better this way. They’d see he was serious and that he had a woman he genuinely loved.
Alex just smiled and hugged Ranma. She loved the man for all he was worth and then some.
