The Gemini Project: Lobby Fighting [Episode 83776]

by Kender

"Well... we can always...," Kei began... just as a group of armored forms came into view, pointing at the trio. "Deal with them, now that they've seen us."

Yuri nodded and pulled her pistol as she ducked behind a column. "Think they'll just let us walk out of here?"

"Do they ever?"

"A girl can hope."

Almost as if the answering the pair, several soldiers took aim and began to shoot at them. The hotel patrons that had been mulling around only moments before began screaming and running in a panic. But the attackers obviously did not care as they continued to send a hail of blasts in their targets' direction.

Which didn't hit them, but dug grooves out of the material that they had been hiding behind.

"Oh this just sucks," Kei complained as she sent a shot back at the gun toting men.

"Why can't we ever get more fights in the desert or something?" Yuri agreed. "Do they always have to attack in places like this?"

"Ya can beat them," Ranma asked with a frown, "can't ya?"

"Sure we can. We might be outgunned, but we're definately have the skill on these idiots."

"Then why don't ya do it already?"

"Because that'd put the civilians in danger," the redhead barked, "I'd sort of like to have one fight where innocents weren't hurt."

"Yeah," her partner put in, "Just look around you, and see. We start shooting up the place, and they'll get hit!"

The pigtailed boy started gazing at the room around him, and scowled as he saw all the people around him. It was obvious to him that the attackers weren't about to let them take it to a safer place, but to beat them could lead to those around them getting hurt.

But as he saw a mother and daughter cowering behind a couch, and screaming as a blast past through it just above them, he asked, "Then what d'ya need ta beat 'em?"

"A distraction would be nice," Kei told him.

"Then ya got one distraction comin' up."

"What are you talking about?!"

He was already moving though, and tumbled over to a table nearby. Shooting to a standing position, he looked at the guys who had been shooting up the place and glared at them. They in turn looked towards him, almost as if judging what to make of this development. Yet those few seconds were all he needed, and he started tossing anything that he could at them. Flower pots, platters, and even chairs went crashing over the gunmen, sending them stumbling back under the onslaught of material.

Which gave Kei and Yuri plenty of time to take quick aim and shoot every one of them.

When the last one fell, the trio stepped over to their fallen opponents and looked them over to make certain that they had gotten them all. From the way that the guys were down, it was obvious that they were not about to get up again.

"Ya didn't kill them, did ya?" Ranma asked.

"Nope," Kei told him as she nudged one limp form with the tip of her boot. "Shot them through the shoulder for the most part. Still going to need a doctor, but they'll be fine."

"It's pretty hard to interrogate a dead man," Yuri put in.

"Ya'd kill someone?" the martial artist asked.

"Only if we had to."

"Too bad we have to so often," her partner muttered to the sound of sirens in the distance. "Better late than never I suppose."

Ranma blinked. "Umm... shouldn't we get outta here?"

Both women looked at him and:
