It was a given that these people were rather more used to things that would cause the average Tokyo denizen reason to make a sanity check. Of course, being Japanese, the average Tokyo denizen would likely ignore anything not fitting their comfortable worldview. Homeless man sleeping off a drunk under a bridge? They didn't see that - it didn't exist. A foreigner pointing out the existence of such was often confused by the "invisible" nature in this manner.
Which made the choice of this particular fiancee interesting. She was in the business of solving problems.
