Power Surge: Meal Talk [Episode 83934]

by Kender

It was something terrific for Shinji, as he got to eat good food that he didn't have to cook. That wasn't to say that he minded working in the kitchen, but it was nice not to have to once in a while. Unfortunately, the only way for that to happen was to either buy fast food, hope that Misato could actually make something edible, attempt to try some of the institutional stuff at the headquarters or try to get Asuka interested in doing it. Since it was less of a hassle, he just continued to cook, and was rather pleased with his results.

But what made this even better was his company for this meal.

For once, Misato wasn't acting with her normal bombastic mannerisms. She was smiling at him, brushing against him, and generally acting more than... friendly. There was a look in her eyes that told him that she wasn't about to reverse her earlier words, and seemed to say that she was enjoying simply being with him. Which was plenty in evidence as she allowed him free views of her body, and even seemed to pose when she caught him looking.

All in all, it seemed more like a romantic date rather than just a stop for lunch, not that he minded at all.

"This was very nice of you," he told her with complete honesty.

Misato airily waved it away. "It was nothing. It's good to go someplace like this once in a while, and besides, we need to get some good food into you."

"We do?"

"Sure! You are a growing boy after all, and I don't want you to starve yourself to nothing. I definately would not like that."

"I don't think that I would either."

"Good. I haven't gotten to the point where I can find out just how sensitive and caring you can be just to lose you. And I don't just mean in bed."

"Misato..," he told her with a deep blush.

"That's what I'm talking about," she commented, lacing the fingers of one of her hands with those of one of his. "You're a sweet guy, and I've never had someone like you in my life before."

"But I'm sure that you've had plenty of other guys. I mean, someone as beautiful as you..."

"Others? Yeah. Any that meant much? Not like you. You've reached parts of me that I couldn't reach."

His eyes widened a bit. "But I wasn't trying for that. I was just... I wanted to make you feel good."

"And you did. A lot. That was something that I'll treasure for a long time."

"Me too..."

"Though... I wouldn't mind if we... continued to do that."

As he had been trying to wet his dry mouth, he choked on his drink. Once he had cleared it up, he peered at her. "Are you serious?"

"Definately. I want to be with you in whatever way that I can. I care about you so much, and I don't care that we can have problems doing this. We'll just have to figure something out."

"But you do want..."

"Yes... as long as you don't mind doing that with an old woman like me. You were so... green, but you still managed to do things that men so much older and more experienced than you missed."

"That would be... nice. I think that I'd like that a lot."

"Thank you Shinji!"

The Third Child smiled sheepishly at the woman with him, and ducked his head. "You're welcome... but shouldn't we do something first?"

"What?"

"Finish eating? This stuff will get cold..."

"Oooh... you're right. And my lunch tastes so good."

"It does?"

"Yup. Let me show you," the lavander haired woman told him, and took some of her food onto her fork. Then she lifted it to his mouth and slid the morsel into it. He chewed it for a moment and swallowed, nodding to himself as he did so.

"Pretty good."

"See?"

"I do."

"But you've got a bit of sauce on your mouth."

"There is?"

She nodded at him, and lifted her napkin to brush off the offending bit of the meal. "There we go... Now your face is all clean."

"Thank you," he told her, and tightened the lacing of their fingers.

"You're welcome," she replied.

"Guess we should eat."

"Yeah, we should."

From that point, speaking became less important, as their simple contact said more than words could. They sat there eating their meals while they held hands in their secluded booth. Neither really cared much about the world around them, and they sat there enjoying their meal.

When they finally finished, it was a much more relaxed and closer standing pair. Having paid their bill, they left walking as together as they could without making anyone too suspicious. But they both were enjoying the other's company, and nothing would seem to ruin that time for them.

There were things that could make one of them chagrined though.

"I just can't wait until we see what else we can get you to wear," Misato commented as they headed for the car.

"Uhh... okay... That'll be fun," Shinji told her.

"Good! There's just so many shops, I don't know which to go to first!"

He sighed with a shake of his head, but a smile was on his face while:
