Ranma walked down the street, passing such peculiar places as transvestite bars, fetish clubs and... he did a double take at the weird name of this one... 'Lap-dancing Karaoke'?
Shrugging his shoulders he continued on his way, casting his mind back to the events earlier in the day. He had just arrived back in Japan after his trip to China when his father had announced his latest hair-brained scheme...
Marry Ranma off to the child of an old friend in order to inherit a dojo.
"Stupid Oyaji," he muttered to himself, "There's no way that I'm going to marry some girl that I haven't even met."
Though he had to admit that the idea of getting to know a girl was strangely appealing, he would do so when he was ready, and on his own terms. Besides, his father's plans always seemed to end up with him in some awkward position whilst the panda got off scot free.
The attack with the traffic sign, which he had somehow managed to dodge, had convinced him that he needed to find someplace to avoid his father - at least until the panda had calmed down a little. So that was why he had decided to come to Shinjuku; there were few better places to hide than in the middle of a crowd.
He was brought out of his musings by the sound of an engine approaching and a male voice shouting, "Out of my way! Out of my way! Oh man, Momma's gonna kill me. Out of my way!"
Ranma saw a guy of about his own age driving a scooter through the crowd and heading right towards him. Ranma quickly muttered a curse and dived out of the way of the passing scooter.
Turning around to shout an insult at the idiot, he was just in time to see the scooter smash into a girl carrying a strange walking stick. Girl, scooter and idiot driver all tumbled to the ground in the middle of the crowded street.
Not even hesitating for a moment, Ranma decided to...
