The goddess came to a decision apparently.
"What's that?" Ranma asked as the goddess pulled something out of her top.
"A cell phone," said Amaterasu. "It's only 1991, just wait though. You'll hardly find any Japanese without one by the end of the decade."
Ranma blinked. What good was having a phone that small that you didn't hook into the wall? You'd be losing the thing constantly, wouldn't you? It'd get damaged in martial arts fights, that was for sure.
"Uzume? Amaterasu. Uh huh. Yeah. So can you come by? Good good. Yeah. Other than some construction materials and food, I can't think of anything."
Ranma blinked. Food?
"That'll work. See you in a few," said Amaterasu. "This will just take a few minutes, Ranma. Once we get this place fixed up it'll be a lot easier to fit in around here."
"This'll take longer than a few minutes," Ranma gestured to indicate the yard.
"No. I called Uzume. Nobody in at least three pantheons knows how to throw a party like Uzume," said Amaterasu. "Just as long as Bacchus doesn't show up. Place would be likely to fall apart in a stiff wind if he started passing out the kegs."
BOOM!
"I brought the mead!"
Leap! Grab!
"Set it over there by the garden," called out Amaterasu. "Uhm, Ranma. You shouldn't hang from that tree branch. It looks like its getting ready-"
krak! THUD!
"-to break," finished the sun goddess.
Ranma flinched as people started showing up. Some in bolts of lightning. One in a chariot pulled by some goats that had obviously been on serious steroids. Another came walking out of a tree. The pond fountained up and some woman came out of it.
Ranma was trying not to think about who all these people were. It was kind of hard not to notice that not all of them made contact with the ground. Or that where that girl stepped, the grass suddenly sprouted up greener and taller.
There were sounds of hammers and saws and chisels being applied to stone.
Ranma was almost relieved when someone walked up the steps and through the torii like a normal person. That is until he saw that it was:
