Darkstalker Usagi: Family History [Episode 84724]

by the DragonBard

Grandfather Hino sighed.

"I guess it's time we adults told our stories." He then launched into his tale of how his daughter met a young man, and the pair fell in love and married. He had quickly discovered the young man was in fact a genie of fire, an Ifrit nobleman. His son-in-law revealed that he had been sent to watch over the daughter of the Queen of Makai, Morrigan Aesland. A duty which he had passed down to his daughter, Rei, who had been born within a year of the marriage.

Unfortunately, Rei was soon orphaned, when her parents were slain by the sword of an obsessed Darkstalker-hunter, Donovan Bane, himself of half-makai ancestry.

"Wait a second!" Makoto yelled out at the description of Donovan. "That's the jerk that tried to chop me up just a bit ago!"

"So, he's come back?" Grandfather Hino grumbled. He had long held back on gaining justice for the death of his daughter, and vengence for Rei's orphaning, but only for his granddaughter's sake. However, with Rei's Ifrit blood awakened, she would become a target of Bane's hatred.

Grandfather Hino looked at Rei, who was so enraged that it took all her will not to erupt into a fire that would likely harm her friends and family.

"Rei." Usagi whispered as she lay a hand on her friend's shoulder. "He won't get away with this. I promise." Rei and Usagi locked gazes, and words of agreement came from Endymion and the other Senshi.

"Thank you." Rei murmured to her friend and princess.

"I guess it's my turn." Dr Mizuno said. "Fortunately, my story isn't as sad as Rei's is." Then she launched into her story of how she got lost, and encountered a young woman in a snow storm. The pair had been able to keep themselves warm, and eventually find their way home. It had been a short time later that Dr Mizuno found herself pregnant with Ami, the daughter of the Yuki-onna that she had unwittingly encountered.

Finally, it was Aino Millenia's turn, the moment she had dreaded. The time when she would finally tell her daughter the whole story of her conception.

Millenia launched into an explanation of how she had been born from the spirit of a Dove-Tengu, caused by the powers of a fragment of a dark god. How Pyron, Lord of Hate, a cosmic monstrosity had tried its hand at procreation, and chosen her as the most suitable mother.

Millenia told of her kidnapping, but glossed over the means that were used for Pyron to conceive with her a child; Minako. She told how she had sealed most of the childs power (though she tried to keep secret what effect the sealing had on herself, for fear of hurting her daughter.)

Millenia had been about to continue her story, when she suddenly stopped, and stared at her daughter.

"Minako! Calm down." She ordered her daughter, who had begun to burn with a rage that easily rivaled that of Rei's.

"Looks like I'll have to finish that necklace a bit sooner than I thought." Usagi muttered. "Setsuna!" She called. Sailor Pluto came running, followed by Artemis, Luna, and a small group of Darkstalkers.

A single glance at Minako told Setsuna what was going on, and she quickly joined the Senshi in gathering around Minako.

The Senshi clasped hands, as the parents watched with bated breath as Usagi called upon powers of light and darkness, order and chaos, bound by ties of friendship and love. With a skill that would have amazed the others in any other circumstance, she wove these into the gold necklace that lay around Minako's neck, and it was reforged.

Now, the golden heart had many more gems; diamon, sapphire, jade, ruby, topaz, aquamarine, emerald, onyx, a moonstone, and an amytheist. And, for the first time in years, Minako did not feel the need to fight against her father... no, against Pyron's hate.
