Amethyst/Misato used her magic to change her clothes into her genie garb and looked down at her gem on Shiniji's ring. "It's about us. About who and what we were before being bound to that ring, Master."
"I don't understand," Shinji replied.
Misato took a deep breat and began. "The three of us are bound to that ring and each other. We have things in our past that need to be discussed."
From her kneeling position, Rei spoke up, "Master Shinji. Unless the three of us reveal theese things to each other, we won't be at our best."
Shinji looked at Rei, "How do you know?"
Rei replied, "It's my ability. Genie Misato was given the ability to talk to animals, and maybe other languages as well, as her ability. My ability is to know what is best for the three of us. I'm the manual and diagnostic machine for the three of us. I do not know what Genie Asuka's ability is yet. Revealing these secrets will be painful, but it will make us better able to serve you."
Misato walked in front of Rei and Asuka and turned to face Shinji. "Please Master, we might not have the strength to do it on our own."
Kneeling as well, Misato continued, "You are going to have either ordrer us or wish for us to reveal these secrets. None of us have the courage to do it on our own."
Shinji looked ove to the red garbed genie and asked gently, "Asuka?"
With tears trailing down her face, Asuka nodded, "Yes, Master. I'm too scared to do this, but I want to tell you."
Shinji sat down on a chair and thought hard. He closed his eyes and went over what he was going to say. Turning back to his genies, he nodded.
"All right. But this is not what I expected."
"Master?" the three chorused.
"A report I did for school sums it up," Shinji answered, distractdley. "I've never had any cherished dreams or ambitions. I don't aspire to any career or profession in the future. That's why I've never really cared whether I get into an accident or something and died. So far, in the first fourteen years of my life, things have always happened as they had to happen. And things will probably continue in the same way."
Shaking his head, Shinji added, "I did get yelled at for not taking the assignment seriously. But, I was serious. My mom was gone and my dad abandoned me to the care of an aunt and uncle who never believed me. I found a bike under a bridge and was going to take it to a lost & found but I was accused of stealing the bike."
Sighing, he continued, "That's why I was not expecting to be in the command of three genies."
Amethyst looked into her master's face from her kneeling position. "Master, please make your ambition and dream to be the best master you can be for us."
"I'll try," Shinji replied with a heavy sigh. "Well then, I wish that the three of you would tell me the painful secrets and how it affects your behavior. Tell me the secrets that you can't even admit to yourself."
The eyes of the three girls glowed in the respective colors of their gems.
Shinji said, "Asuka/Ruby should go first. It'll give her more time to recove. Then Amethyst/Misato. Sapphire/Rei last. I hope I've got things set so that I'm not offending any of you."
