"One moment. 'Late' in this context would indicate that I am deceased, which is not exactly accurate. I simply went on to other venues after the cancellation of 'Bloom County' and was not renewed for 'Outland' or the current 'Opus' series though I have hopes of making a cameo."Ahem. Akane, as you may have noticed, is a rather passionate individual. However, she is also quite capable - as in the case of P-Chan - of ignoring things that would make her uncomfortable or (if you prefer) of having her first impression and continuing on with it. Again in the case of P-chan. Alternatively her insistance of Ranma being perverted (comments from such incidents as the Post Hypnotic Dim Sum, Cats Tongue Pressure Point, and Rising Dragon Ascension for example) despite the very real possibility of Ranma being ignorant of sexual matters.
"Well, I suppose that depends on which translation you have in your hands and how you personally interpret innuendo.
"As to Akane's mindset, she is violently shying away from responsibility. If she actually allowed herself to realize that she had killed her fiance, it would be a horrifying guilt trip for her. So, her mind is protecting itself by not being able to even register the concept."
"Well, it's like this," said Thrud to the assembled Senshi and to Akane. "Once upon a time, a little over two weeks ago, there was a young martial artist named Ranma Saotome. Due to his father being a moron, he ended up getting a transformation curse. Cold water turned him into a young girl, while hot water turned him back. This young man was regularly launched by various females and a few males of his acquaintance high into the air. Due to his upbringing, he was the sort who took insults and casual violence directed at him to be normal and was the only sort of attention he knew how to handle."
"He got 'launched'?" asked Megumi.
"Either by punch, kick, mallet, explosive device, or similar means," explained Thrud. "On one such occasion, Ranma was launched by Akane whereupon he landed badly - lulled by repetition into nearly falling asleep on this trip. He struck his head against the concrete embankment of a canal, fell in and drowned."
Akane continued to glare at Ranma, only sparing a glance to the side when a dinosaur settled in to listen as well.
"Belldandy knew a means of resuscitating the boy, but as he had fallen in the canal was a girl. When recovered, Ranma had not only died, but had forgotten who he originally was. By the time anyone thought to check her past and determine that she was a he - she had already begun developing a personality and identity of her own."
"Me," said Sif, in case anyone hadn't figured that out.
"Exactly," said Thrud. "So we essentially had a case of reincarnation. Sif here was the reincarnation of Ranma Saotome. The spirit of Ranma was sent on to become an einherjar as part of the Army of Heaven in Valhalla. She was adopted due to her name by our parents - the Norse god of thunder named Thor and the Norse goddess of battle skill named Sif."
The dinosaur held up a forepaw. "So the reason that you have enough chi to light up Tokyo is because you're gods?"
"Yes, exactly," said Thrud. "Magni and Modi are the gods of Force and Strength while I'm the goddess of valor."
"Just checking," said the dinosaur.
"In the meantime, someone nasty named Marller has been going a little nuts and re-enacting certain elements from a shojo manga series called Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon and came across Sif here who has become the shrine maiden here." Thrud indicated Sif again. "Marller attempted to enlist a martial arts expert named Cologne and ended up turning Cologne into a dinosaur. As a result of other factors, to oppose Marller have been an increasing number of Sailor Senshi inspired by that series."
Modi cleared his throat. "Little sis - Sif here - is Sailor Mars. Megumi is Sailor Mercury. Chihiro is Sailor Jupiter. Sayoko is Sailor Venus. There's a candidate for Sailor Pluto, but there's a complication involved in that."
"So this girl," Sayoko indicated Akane, "came here to beat on her fiance but she's already killed him, so she was going to attack Sif instead because she is his reincarnation?"
"That's it," said Thrud. "Any questions?"
"Yeah," said Akane. "I've got a question:
