A Cat's Yarn - Golden Destinies: Dinner time and Gina's confusion. [Episode 87477]

by Matdeception

"Good. Now that that’s taken care of, go wash up. It's almost time for dinner." Julia ordered with a glare.

"Eep! Yes ma'am!" Ranma squeaked as he ran out of the room, intent on finding the bathroom before Julia got mad, again.

***

Ranma sighed, feeling the cold-water cascade over his hands. To be free of that damnable curse almost made the hell he had experienced so far worth it. No more having to worry about changing at the MOST horrible times. There is only so much scorn he could take for being thought of as a cross-dressing pervert. "Stupid tomboy." he grumbled as remembrance of Akane reared its head.

Drying his hands off quickly, Ranma flipped the light off and headed towards the dining room.

***

Ranma stopped at the entrance to the kitchen, hearing voices.

"Theo! What did I tell you about leaving blood trails on the floor!" Julia pointed irritably at the kitchen floor, giving her husband a cold glare.

"But Julia! I didn't mean too!" Theo whined, "If you had given me five minutes to heal..." Theo zipped his mouth shut when Julia's glare turned murderous. "Yes dear, I'm sorry dear, I'll be more considerate, dear." Damn, she was still mad at him.

"Nope, don't wanna know." Ranma ruthlessly suppressed all thoughts of eating right then, turned around and walked away.

Stumbling into the living room, Ranma collapsed on a comfy cushioned chair and sighed miserably. "I swear, its like I'm still living in Nerima!" he groaned mentally, trying to relax his somewhat fried nerves.

An insistent tugging on his pant leg brought him out of his thoughts. He blinked, finding Brittany mewing in need with her hands held up high, a signal that she wanted to be lifted up. "All right, all right." he chuckled, lifting the little tyke up into his arms. "Your a selfish little kid, y'know that right?" he said with a bemused grin.

***

"Theodore Pisqual Diggers! You better get your butt moving and set that table!"

"Yes Ma'am!" Theo saluted.

Julia sighed as she left the kitchen. She knew she was being hard on her husband, she was still a little angry after all. "I'll apologize later." she thought as she went to go grab up the kids. (Yes, she included both Ranma and Theodore’s father, Jonathan in that category)

She spotted Gina in the hallway, just outside the living room. She had been about to call out to her when she heard her say. "Rannie?" She suppressed a groan, but decided to listen in and see what happens.

***

"Rannie?" a tepid voice, one tinged with a small amount of sadness. Ranma hmmed, turning his gaze away from Brittany, who was trying to get comfortable in his arms. "Gina? Something wrong?"

Gina sniffed, rubbing some snot that had escaped her nose across her face. "Is Brittany my sister?"

Ranma blinked, not sure how to answer that. "Well, yeah.. I guess."

"Does that make you my daddy?" Gina nearly cried miserably.

"No, Gina." Ranma said firmly, already knowing where this was going. "Theodore.." god he hoped the guy didn't hear him actually use his name, he so did love to tease the man about being blond. ".. is always going to be your daddy. He loves you, your mommy loves you. I'm not your new daddy."

"Oh.." she sniffled, "Who are you?"

"Ah..." he chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head with his free arm. "I guess.. I'm a friend of your mommy and daddy." God he hoped no one was around to hear that.

"Really?" Gina tiptoed closer to him, the beginnings of a smile touching her lips. "Does that make you my friend too?"

Ranma nodded slowly, "If you want, I'd love to be your friend." he then grinned, "Only if you promise me something.."

"Whats that?"

"That you won't slam me on the head with a mallet." Ranma deadpanned.

Gina blinked once, then started giggling, "Your so silly!" she chirruped.

"I wish." Ranma grumbled, not loud enough for Gina to hear.

"Time for dinner!" Julia shouted from the hallway.

"Yay! Dinner!" Gina squealed, grabbing Ranma's hand before racing off for the kitchen, literally dragging the martial artist behind her.

Passing Julia in the hallway, Ranma blinked before saying, "She's pretty strong for her age." he was then dragged towards the kitchen by an over exuberant excitable child.

Julia just chuckled at the uncomfortable tone in Ranma's voice before joining her family for dinner.
