Obviously this was not a serious contender for her Airen's heart.
she was smuggly deciding that when she glanced ahead and saw, to her shock, a little girl, about six years old, run into the street after a doll some older boy had tossed. Beyond the little girl was large truck that Shampoo knew did not have time to stop.
The amazon peddled faster, moving to intercept the girl before the truck could, and she just made it. She vaulted herself off the bike and scooped the little girl up, jumping on.
It would have all been for nought had the driver not shown some skill and veered to the side giving Shampoo room to stay clear.
Shampoo glanced up in relief and that's when she saw the canister flying in her direction. She had just time to push the little girl out of the way and recognize the bio-hazard symbol before it hit her.
And then the world was all pain.

"She's going to be fine," the doctor said to the collected crowd.
All of the Nerima crwod that had heard were there. Rival or not, pest or not, Shampoo was still one of them. So beyond the other two amazons, Ukyou and the Tendos were present, as was Ranma, and for some reason an oddly respectful Kodachi as well.
They all breathed a sigh of relief.
"No doubt she'll be plaguing the streets in her delivery runs yet again," Kodachi said with obviously relieved humor.
"The Bicycle of Death rides again," Nabiki agreed.
"Can't you be serious?" Akane demanded.
"Look, Akane," Ranma said. "She's fine."
"My beautiful Shampoo lies in a hospital bed and you say she's fine?" Mousse demanded.
"Indeed, child," Cologne said. "They are merely expressing relief, however, it may be a little premature. Unless I am mistaken." She looked to the doctor.
"Her eyes..." the doctor said. "Have been practically destroyed. TCRI offered to foot the bill for corrective surgery, even a transplant. But the damage is too extensive and extends to the nerves."
"So," Cologne said grimmly. "You're saying she's blind."
"Yes," the doctor said reluctantly.

Shampoo woke slowly and felt the bandages around her face. She still felt a little of the pain from the chemical burns but suspected that some form of anesthetic was keeping her seperated from the bulk of the pain.
It would certainly account for the hazy, cluttered mess that her senses were reporting to her. All sorts of phantom sounds, smells and sensations. A sort of green static all across her vision, when there should be darkness considering the bandages around her face.
And she could hear people talking...somewhere, barely whispering so they had to be close...
They were talking about a patient...HER...they were talking about her and how she was...
"NO!" Shampoo snapped. "NO! NO! NO! Shampoo not blind!"
At this point several nurses had to come in to keep Shampoo from taking off her bandages.

She was released soon after and then she went home...to sit in her room...and do nothing.
"This is enough moping about," Cologne said irritably. "Are you an Amazon or a child?"
"Is blind," Shampoo said. "Not bad vision like Mousse, just blind. Is no Amazon."
"Well, if you are a child," Cologne said. "Then I have to make decisions for you. You're starting school."
"Aiyah!" Shampoo gasped. "But I no can see!"
"St Hebereke offers courses in braile," Cologne said. "If you can not fight, you will be a scholar. I did not raise you to be a failure or a quitter."
