Moon Prince: Sold! and sold again [Episode 8812]

by Kestral

Minako flipped through the report to stare at a particular page. "So, I was engaged to marry Danburite in my Silver Millenium life, but my duty to the Queen and a relationship with Jedite kleenexed that deal, but then one of the times I was PO'ed at Jedite I ended up engaged to Prince Ran. Then in this life, my father signed an agreement with Genma Saotome..."

Artemis began to feel a real headache developing as he found the paragraph. "His father sold him for a stack of pancakes?"

"With butter and syrup," noted Minako as if that somehow made a difference. She blinked. "Wow."

"The Catfist," blanched Makoto. "I'd heard rumors of that, the Oceanborn, and oh my dear sweet kami!" "What is it?" The other Senshi took note of Makoto's reaction (pale and sweating) and looked to see she was looking at a paragraph that had largely been blacked out.

"He trained his six year old son in the Touched Soul," said Makoto though her voice was strained almost to a hoarse whisper. The other Senshi were shocked to see tears welling up in the tough girl's eyes.

"Uhm, that's bad, isn't it?" Ami asked.

"The Touched Soul?" The voice started out distant but the door slid open a moment later to reveal a panting and pale Grandfather Hino. "Who's the victim? We'll give him last rites and do everything we can to prosecute the sensei."

Much blinking among the Senshi except for Rei (who was trying to get her Grandfather to drop it and go away, not necessarily in that order) and Makoto (who was still staring at something far away and had an expression of horror on her face.)

"Here we go," said Ami after searching her computer, "according to this the Touched Soul is a martial arts training technique that, oh dear. Less than 5% of all students trained in the Touched Soul method survive the training. Of that 5%, nearly all will suffer from severe mental damage or psychological trauma with personality aspect exaggeration being among the least of the side effects. Gibbering insanity, permanent emotional retardation, or worse are more likely."

"...to do that to your own son," whispered Makoto.

Minako asked what the "Oceanborn" technique involved. Ami found that it involved tying the young student up with chains and an anchor, then forcing them to swim a deep lake while towing a boat. If successful, the student would then be able to swim as if they were born to the ocean.

"...okay..." Minako said.

"Did you see this bit about the swamp, wolves, and endurance training?" asked Usagi as Rei got back.

Setsuna sipped her tea and considered the situation developing around her.

Ranma/Prince Ran had enough of his Silver Millenium identity surface that he had been acting different this morning. That had apparently clued everyone in that something was different. Each had come to their own conclusions regarding this.

Kasumi practically radiated disapproval of something but wasn't saying what. Nabiki was eyeing her and looked as if she was trying to figure out Setsuna's net worth to the nearest yen. Akane had gotten mad and started yelling and trying to hit Ranma - something about another Amazon floozie.

Setsuna frowned marginally as she realized that Akane was probably talking about her. Hmmm.

Genma (Setsuna showing remarkable restraint and not going with her first impulse of turning to Sailor Pluto and dead-screaming him into a pandaskin rug) was yelling at Ranma about his son's lack of honor, courage, and cojones.

Soun Tendo was yelling at Ranma about how Ranma had a fiancee and that he'd better resolve this quickly.

Ranma was dodging wildly and not replying back, it looking as if he was seeing everything around him as if it were for the first time. Well, in a sense it was.

Setsuna decided this had gone on long enough and interrupted by:
