All plans that she was making was derailed by the sudden emergence of lightning in her realm, which blew apart tiles in the floor. Being a cat herself, Bastet immediately sprung from the couch to cower- ahem, protect herself behind her couch. The couch, however, wasn't as animate as the goddess, and was battered by flaming shrapnel.
The lightning bolt ended just as quickly as it had begun, allowing the goddess to emerge from her hiding spot. Thoguh it had actually never happened to her, the goddess feared what the bolt meant.
Her fears were confirmed when she saw the message that was left behind. Reading the script quickly, the goddess gulped, and prepared to meet her maker.
Literally.

Theo looked up wearily as his wife entered their bedroom, carrying a mug of coffee. Julia sat down next to him on the edge of the remains of their bed, where a long fanged werecat slumbered. "How is... he?" Julia asked, refusing to refer to her longtime friend in the female terms.
Theo shrugged, running his hand through his tousled blonde hair. "Stronger. Sh- he's recovering from the magic spell normally, now," he responded. "The children?"
"In Ranma's bed; they're too scared to seperate, and their own beds aren't suitable for two occupants." Silence followed between the two, then Julia looked down at the mug. "... I can't believe that Jonathan did that..." she whispered just loud enough for Theo to hear.
Theo's back stiffened, but he stopped himself from getting angry. "That wasn't my father; that accident that we found in his room must haved caused his mind to warp, as well as his body." The aura mage looked to the spot where he sent his father's shell into another realm. "That was a lich, not my father," he quietly said, though it sounded as though he was trying to convince himself.
Julia saw this, and wrapped her free arm around Theo's waist. "Did you figure out what happened to Ranma?"
Theo relaxed in the embrace, then looked over wearily where the unconcious weresmilodon laid. The female were had lost around half a foot in height, making her just under eight feet tall, and her muscles were more streamline, but not less powerful. Also, whileas Ranma originally had ebony fur all over, now she had dark red fur, almost the color of dried blood. And, of course, like most other werecats, was very... gifted.
"I'm not sure how Ranma changed sexes, but I think it's not because of the spell," Theo said after a long pause, then accepted the mug from Julia in order to drink its contents.
Julia blinked at her husband in surprise. "It wasn't?" She hoped that Theo would keep it in simple terms; she was a fighter, not a mage!
Thankfully, Theo attempted to do so. "From the residual aura left behind by the lich's spell, it was... some sort of dimensional spell, that would seperate a person from this realm." At Julia's confused look, THeo sighed, trying to reorganize his thoughts. "It would, for all intents and purposes, kill the target by erasing him from Earth."
Judging by the slowing growing horrified stare the weaponsmaster was giving him, Theo decided that the description was enough.
Julia looked over to her resting friend. "But how did..."
Theo rubbed his head, for this was the strangest part. "Julia, werecreatures are magical." He ignored the annoyed look that was shot at him, and continued. "Ranma has a stranger magical aura than other werecats, most likely because he's an unique species. When I checked... him over after the attack, I found that some parts of his aura has been destroyed."
Julia blinked, then grew annoyed at herself for being caught off guard so much. "Destroyed?"
"Yes. Also, a new magical aura is manifesting, a powerful one." ANything else that he was about to say would have to wait, for the two realized that their housemate was awakening. Quickly, they scrambled to the werecat's side.
Slowly, the werecat opened her eyes, then just as quickly closed them, trying to avoid the rays of the morning sun. A few moments passed, a large, furry woman lying in a partially destroyed bed, and two humans hovering over her, before the were's eyes shot back open. She quickly sat up, only to groan in pain and collapse back down.
Julia held down Ranma's shoulders. "Careful, Ranma, you don't want to overexert yourself," she cautioned. Ranma squinted up at the red headed woman, then glanced over to see the aura mage sighing in relief.
"Julia? Blondie? What's happen-" Ranma's voice shut off in midsentence, and the two humans excahgned worried glances. Several moments passed, before, slowly, the were reached with her paw to her chest.
If the silence from the first few milliseconds that, say, the atomic bomb exploded could be recreated, it would be in this ruined room, multiplied by a hundred.
Julia and Theo weren't quite sure what to expect when Ranma discovered the new... complication. They probably weren't expecting the next words out of the psuedo-woman's mouth.
"Dammit, not again," Ranma groaned. Ranma glanced over to where she heard two loud thumps, and sweatdropped at the sight of his friends greeting the floor in an abrupt manner.
