A fact that her brother had seemed to have taken to heart, oddly enough. The last she had seen of him was him meditating with his weapon before him, stoically waiting for the end. Of course, the images of his two 'loves' were before him, but she had no idea if he would simply wait for the end to come, though that was likely, since the Tendo girl had vanished, and one simply could not know when the pigtailed one would pop up next.
Her father had simply heard what was happening, and decied to go die in his beloved Hawaii.
As for herself, she wondered what she should do. Should she stay there, and wait out the last moments of her life? Her beloved Ranma-darling was at the Tendo Dojo the last time she had heard, and she could take her one last chance for a moment of passion in his arms before the end. There would be no tomorrow, and now, nothing could be put off until later.
Nodoka Saotome looked over her home and wondered what she should do. At the moment she was merely drinking tea, but she knew that soon enough, she would be joining her ancestors. It brought things into a focus that she hadn't had before.
Somewhere out there was the son that she had given up for a ten-year training journey. When she had, she had assumed that she would be able to see the results and be proud of the situation that had resulted. That had been the thing that had made those years bearable, as she had always hoped that with doing her duty, she would be doing the right thing for her son.
Looking at a picture of the smiling boy he had been, she wondered just how manly he really was.
And just how important that was, now that it had reached what was to be the end of the world.
Already one of her neighbors had removed himself from this life, while another was having a party which went at all the time went on. At a house down the street, it was clear what was going on by the constant moans of passion, even as the one on the opposite end of the block played host to a family reunion.
She had to ask herself one question in the face of all that was happening.
What did 'duty' mean when there was going to be no result to it?
Daisuke came out of the room he'd been in as he went out for a little walk and spotted his best friend sitting there, a bottle in his hand. "What? Ryonami mad at you or something?"
"Nah. She's sleeping," Hiroshi replied, "Figured that I'd let her rest while I came out to have a cold one."
"Beer? Someone might see you."
"Who cares? It's not like they'll have much time to complain about it."
"True."
"Why don't you have one?" the lighter haired boy asked, gesturing to the set next to him.
"Hmm... why not? Man... Not what I expected."
"You get used to it. 'Sides, trying it is something that we've always said we'd do."
"Yeah. We are doing all the stuff we said we'd do."
"We even got to sleep with girls," Hiroshi commented with a weary chuckle.
"And good looking ones at that."
"And older."
"Don't let Kikuko hear you say that," drawled the darker haired boy.
"Yeah... Well... How much you want to bet they only wanted someone to sleep with and we were convient?"
"Even if that's true, I'm going to run under the idea that they wanted us. It might be wishful thinking, but it's fun. What's with the dark talk anyhow?"
"I don't know... I mean, the end's coming, and I realised that we've done nothing. We never even had the chance."
"Well, at least we managed to please some girls before we went on to the afterlife."
Hiroshi chuckled under her breath. "Yeah. I just hope we gave them something they could enjoy even just a little."
"It sure was different to have the reality than what we imagined, right?"
"But it was better, even if we didn't know what we were doing."
Both boys laughed self decapritatingly, and clinked their bottles together.
The two girls who'd been watching the exchange looked at each other, and frowned in thought while:
