"M...m...Mom? What are you doing here?" asked Ranma.
The Saotome Matriarch wrapped her son in a hug. "Oh my son! I've finally been reunited with you and on your wedding day too!"
Pulling back slightly from his mother's embrace, Ranma asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Your father called and explained it all!"
"He...he... He did?" A light of hope began to blossom in his heart. Maybe now that his mother knew everything, he could finally be with her...
"Yes he did! I was surprised to hear that you and Nabiki decided to get married so quickly!"
Hope flickered slightly. "What did he tell you?"
"Just that the two of you were in love and that you wanted to get married quickly. It's just so manly of you to want to get down to it so fast. And then hopefully I'll have some grandchildren soon afterwards."
The light of hope went out like a snuffed candle. "He just told ya that we're getting married?"
"That is what I said. It so manly of you to get an older woman to be so in love with you. And Nabiki-chan is so pretty too!"
"Why thank you," said Nabiki.
"Mom, I don't think that you know what's going on," said Ranma.
"You aren't having second thoughts, are you?" asked Nodoka.
"Well, you see..."
"It wouldn't be very many to run out on a promise like that."
Ranma rubbed his neck absently as he thought. Tell the truth, risk getting his head cut off. Marry Nabiki, and risk getting his fiancees to wanting to kill him. Not very good choices in his opinion. His mind frantically thought for a way out.
In the end, he decided to:
