The senshi not in a guy's harem, check.

They were not connected to Ranma in any way, check.

Alien invaders consisting mostly of cannon fodder grunts, check.

'Lovely Warriors', check.

Sailor uniforms, _not_ check.

Magical Girls? Not even close.

Now they were soldiers piloting robotech mecha to defend the planet.

• Early Macross: The SDF-1 headed back to Earth (The Senshi are aboard, and have volunteered to join the RDF)
• Late/Post Macross: The Rain of Death has fallen, the Zentraedi fleet has been smashed, Now to pick up the pieces. (Maybe the senshi are the pilots for a new squadron/unit?)
• Southern Cross: The former Sailors are now the members of a unit in the Armies of the Southern Cross. Are they a Hovertank unit? Or maybe a unit of fighter pilots operating out of one of the moonbases?
• he Sentinels: Usagi and company are part of the REF, fighting to free the worlds of the Sentinels alliance from the power-mad Invid Regent.
• Invid Invasion: The Regent is dead, but The Regis, the Invid queen, has conquered Earth. The ex-sailors are freedom fighters and/or survivors of one of the REF's attempts to free Earth.
• Something Else/restart
