Instead of chaos using him to ground itself out so that he danced to its tune - he was using the chaos and forcing it to do what he wanted.
With the wizard gone and himself left to try and master some new magic on his own, and Tracel's Adaptable Potion mastered shortly thereafter, Ranma had selected two spells to master from the old battered beginner's book. He had just mastered one that promised to see a lot of use, and was apparently something his current sensei had developed personally.
"Heavy Weight" was supposed to increase the weight of a person or object so that others would have trouble moving it. It could be dispelled with a single word. Ranma's sensei Froderick being a wizard, he had developed it to enchant doorstops and paperweights and the like, or for displays of merchandise. Ranma saw it as a way to increase gravity's pull on an object or set of objects. In other words - martial arts training.
Sure he was an apprentice wizard and training in another art. He didn't want to completely abandon his old art though, wizardry would be something he used in his other art and vice versa.
Ranma finished the spell, named himself as the object, and grunted involuntarily as his weight seemed to continue increasing until he was shaking and sweating from the effort of keeping himself upright.
After fifteen minutes of that he spoke the release word and damn near imbedded himself in the ceiling. As soon as he'd recovered enough to move again, he went off to pour some more juice and celebrate. New art, new special training method, he had the run of the farm. Life was pretty darn good.
