"Max!"
Max suddenly blinked his eyes, and looked forward to see a blue and white. . . Wait he was looking up at the sky, which was why there were sharp rocks poking at his back.
"You ok Max?" Ranma asked in a worried tone from where he knelt beside his traveling companion for the last four years.
"Ohh, I'm fine!" Max declared as he hoisted himself to a seating position. "Just as soon as those extra suns go away everything will be ok."
"Don't jest, Mighty One!" an age filled voice spoke from opposite Ranma.
"Virg. . . Cologne," Max trailed off as he pivoted toward her. He raised one hand to take his cap off his head, pulling it down and looking at it. "Where did you. . ." His eyes lit up. "Wait, did you get this from a talking chicken, about yeah high, calls himself. . ." 'It was left my people by the last of the Lemurian sages before he died.' "Virgil. . ."
"That is how he looked, and he did call himself Virgil. Twelve years ago he wandered into our village horribly wounded, and before he died he gave the cap to my family for safekeeping. And two days before I came back to Japan with Shampoo, a stone in an old wall gave way revealing a old sealed box he had addressed to me long before that, telling me to take the cap with me when I went to Japan."
"Heh," Max laughed briefly. "Yeah," he commented as he lifted his head, tears streaming down his cheeks. "That's Virgil all right. Not even dying would keep him from hiding weird messages everywhere." He sighed sadly.
Deep within the earth was a massive cavern, within which a great castle stood, it's walls illuminated by the rivers of Lava around it. Inside a massive gray skinned figure sat on a throne. Suddenly he jerked his head at the sight of a great white light.
"no," he whispered. "IT CAN'T BE!!" He screamed as he leaped to his face and ran to where a giant crystal sat affixed to a long golden rod whose other end was driven into the floor.
"The Cap Bearer is dead. . . And yet what else but him claiming the Cap could provoke such a reaction?!" With a scowl Skullmaster rose to his full height. "I will find out what has happened. And if the Cap Bearer lives again, he can die again as well."
