Missing Persons: Traps and Tribulations [Episode 92161]

by Kestral

The investigating team was fairly confident. After all, look at how much raw power they could bring to bear. Supergirl could lift mountains, was invulnerable to a vast array of things, had superspeed, supersenses, and could fly faster than a speeding bullet. Wonder Woman was strong enough to lift skyscrapers, no slouch in the speed department, and an accomplished fighter. The weakest two were Storm and Rogue - one of whom controlled the elements and the other was capable of taking over her opponent's powers with a touch.

Their last visit had been to that ship, the Nirvana, and nothing they'd seen there was any real threat to them or their Master's plans.

"It must be something wrong with the wiring," offered Ms Marvel, her breath fogging in the rapidly dropping temperature.

"This Citadel is in a dimensional limbo, and the environment is artificial," said Storm. "I can't get a feel for the weather patterns here."

"That's a thought," pondered Supergirl, brushing ice off of her cape. "My x-ray vision and super hearing are getting odd distortions because of the magical chaos outside the Citadel's 'isle of stability'. It is certainly more plausible than someone being able to duplicate Master's genius in bringing us all here."

Wonder Woman slammed her fist into her hand. "I hope someone did follow us. After what happened to Master, I really need to make it up to him."

Supergirl frowned as she used her supervision on the ice crystals forming on the walls. "Waitaminute. This can't be natural it looks like -"

Schiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg!

The ice-filled corridor was quiet for a moment, with only the crackling of ice as it filled the corridor breaking the silence.

CRASH!

She Hulk brought her arms forward and charged, snarling. Ice shattered along her path. "Whoever did that, you're going to pay!"

A purple glow building up in a side corridor answered her.

"I'll get you," said the She Hulk, charging forward and turning the corner.

"Wait," called out Ms. Marvel, "it might be-"

"Silence Glaive Surprise - Enhanced!"

WHAM!

The jade giantess went flying down the corridor in the opposite direction from her charge.

"-a trap," finished Ms. Marvel.

BOOM! Boom! boom!

"She Hulk's out of the fight," said Ms Marvel, "Storm and Rogue aren't in any shape to fight."

Shivering, Supergirl nodded her readiness to fight. While the cold had clearly been magical it hadn't actually hurt her much. The magical ice might have resisted her attempts to break free, but it hadn't come to that.

"Whoever it is can't get us all, let's go get her before she can build up another attack," suggested Wonder Woman. "I can probably deflect it with my bracelets if she does do it."

"No, the Citadel is a set of concentric rings with linking tunnels and intervening bulkheads." Ms Marvel pointed backwards. "You two have superspeed. You can go around and flank our opponents, then I'll attack from this angle."

"-dead scream-"

Wonder Woman jumped forward and deflected the ball of energy into the floor. "Watch out!"

"Submarine Reflection!"

Boom!.

"It was such a good idea," said the Senshi with a mirror. "Flanking and attacking from different sides. I hope you don't mind us using it."

"Supergirl? Ms. Marvel?" Wonder Woman looked to her two fallen allies. "Well, you'll find it takes a lot more to take me out! I'll have you licking Master's shoes in no time."

Whack!

Wonder Woman's eyes rolled up and she collapsed.

"Whoa," said Ranma as his invisibility field was dropped. "The special manuever - Sneaky Sidewinder Sucker Punch. I've never seen it performed before."

Sakura curtseyed. Actually, she thought she'd just used the Power Card and whacked the girl on the back of the head with her wand. Oh well, good enough.
