In fact, out of all of them, only Ritsuko Akagi hadn't made any headway, and that was only due to the fact that she hadn'r 're'-met him yet.
Still... Even though he knew that things had left the normal chaos behind to go to a new level, he felt the urge to meddle. Not that he disliked the way that things were going, but he couldn't help himself. It was just in his nature to shake things up.
Besides... The kid he'd just talked to could use a break...
Kiyone was the one that had noticed the pigtailed girl carrying something big back from the surfline. "What do you have there?"
"I found this guy laying near the water with waves splashin' over him when I went to try to walk to get warm...," Ranma replied, "He's out cold, so I thought that I'd better rescue him before he died."
"That's a good idea... But what's that paper?"
"I dunno. He had it in his hand when I found him."
"Mind if I see it?"
"Knock yourself out," the redhead told her as she returned to dragging the unconscious boy along. "I'm gonna try and take care of who ever he is."
The police-officer-turned-super-spy nodded and let her get to it while she pulled open the wet piece of paper carefully.
"What does it say?" came a calm voice.
"Don't do that!" Kiyone declared as she turned to look at Rei.
A slight shrug was the yuki-onna's response. "I simply wished to find out what was on the paper."
"Well, it is... WHAT?!"
"What is it?"
"According to this, that boy's father is a government offical. When the authorities caught Genma Saotome when he was trying to sneak back into the country after a trip to China, to get out of it, he engaged his 'daughter' Ranma to the official's son!"
"Perhaps the official thought that Ranma really was female and that 'she' would do that boy some good," Rei suggested. "What is his name?"
"The boy is... Shinji Ikari."
It was very lucky for Rei that she wasn't naturally expressive, because she managed to only hold up an eyebrow at the name while:
