"Bleh! Gargh! Ugh!" coughed Ranma. He, now a she, had inadvertently swallowed some seawater when the wave had the caught the Trainer unawares. She pounded her chest a couple of times, trying to get her lungs to work properly.
The acrid fluid had left their mark on the delicate tissues lining her throat. They burned, for the moment, until she could get her breath back. Once her breathing was back in order she'd be fine. Still, she didn't miss a beat as she jumped over the next wave.
Ranma had been hoping to hold on to his secret for a little bit longer. Actually, he'd been hoping to never having to explain why he was now a she. It had seemed quite possible, too.
During the past week and half since he had been wished into this world, he had noticed there was a lot less water splashing onto him from out of nowhere. It wasn't until Professor Gohan had sent him off to take a bath before eating dinner that he had rembered about his curse. Since then, the only times he had transformed were when he bathed in the middle of the night.
The were still a few accidents that did happen. However, he had actually been able to dodge out of the way of the spilled drinks or had been able to block the spray of water from an out-of-control hose with an unappreciative Daisuke. His co-worker since then had been trying to get him back. Hiroshi was a gleeful audience to their on-going prank war.
Overjoyed at the decrease of water-related accidents, Ranma had failed to notice the increase in non-water-related accidents. There had been a couple of near electrocutions with malfunctioning household appliances, a few visits to the kitchens that had a stove fire flare up unexpectedly, and so forth. As these incidents happened to the people within the vicinity of Ranma and never directly to him, he paid them no mind other than cautioning the people involved to have the handyman look over their equipment more often.
He had also failed to notice that there was something different to his cursed form. Whenever he turned into a she as she bathed, Ranma's normally dark head of hair were turning bluish in tinge. More so as time passed. And now, there was no missing it.
The bangs covering her eyes were cerulean blue. The bright blue of a summer sky. Ranma's eyes were crossing themselves as she eyed the lock of hair dripping on her nose. She then noticed the two Pokemon staring in shock at her.
"Who said you could stop?" shouted the Trainer as she back-flipped over the wave that had surged over the rock she had been standing on. "You don't got time to be gawking at me! I'm just about done here, and that cliff ain't gonna take me long at all." She turned to look at the Ponyta then at the Rattata. They stared right back.
"Well?" she asked. "Hop to it! We're not done training yet!"
The two Pokemon, recovering from their surprise, resumed their activities. But as soon as they were done, there were some questions that were going to be answered.
