"Minako, huh?" Ranma asked. "Wanna be friends?"
I would like that very much, sent the dragon.
Ranma's door opened. "Ranma, go to sleep, it's late and..."
Ranma blinked up at his mother. Minako blinked up at Ranma's mother. Ranma's mother blinked at dragon and child.
"Hi Mom, this is Minako," said Ranma. "Isn't she neat?"
Pleased to meet you, said Minako. You must be proud to have such a talented son who can Call dragons.
"Yes, I suppose so," said Nodoka, wandering away from the door. Clearly she was having a dream and this meant something. Perhaps her arguing with Genma about Ranma's education was stressing her out too much?
Well, that went better than I expected, confessed Minako.
"You've got a what?!" Genma demanded despite the fact that the three foot long reptile was clearly standing there with a teacup cradled between her foreclaws.
"A dragon! Ain't she neat?" Ranma said, checking and then imitating his new friend's stance.
"I thought we'd get a cat maybe," mused Nodoka. "I suppose a dragon will do though. She's much more feline than reptillian, if you don't count the scales."
"Out of the question! A pet detracts from the Art and will make him soft!" declared Genma.
"What if she could do special manuevers?" asked Ranma.
"What kind of special manuevers can a little lizard do?" Genma asked.
Minako put the cup down. She took a deep breath. There may be some discomfort.
FWOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
Smouldering on the patio, Genma closed his mouth and adjusted his glasses. "I'll have to think about this." (THUD!)
Nodoka considered the fallen husband and held the teapot out where a smaller jet of flame reheated the contents. "Now that he had coming."
