Still, he managed to ask, "What happened to them?"
Misato shrugged a bit. "They went where I came from, and I can swear without any problem, that is not a nice place at all. Just thinking about it is too hard for me to do."
"So they went inta somethin' that terrified them just by bein' there?"
"Pretty much..."
"That's really not a fun idea," Ranma murmured with a shiver as he remembered his glimpse into what the genie had been through. "So... how long are they gonna lay there?"
"I don't know. It isn't like it's an exact science."
Frowning, the pigtailed boy knelt by his fiancee and tried gently move her so that she looked at him. It was a dangerous proposition, but he knew that he had to check up on her. She wasn't moving much, and the idea of leaving her there had little appeal.
But instead of bashing him, she looked at him without seeming to see him.
"So many... so many..," she whimpered in a small voice.
"Akane?" he said gently, and then took her by the shoulders to shake her, "Akane?!"
"Ranma..?"
"Yeah, it's me. Ya feelin' okay?"
"No... have to get away. Too many of them... too close... I'm so..," Akane began, before her eyes grew watery and tears began streaking down her slime covered cheeks.
"It's okay, it's okay..," he told her, and leaned over to move Nabiki to face him. "Ya got any idea about what's goin' on?"
The middle Tendo sister merely stared at him as she rocked back and forth. "I'm so sorry... I never knew... Your father... he is..."
"'He is..'? What? What did ya do Pop?"
"Not my fault," Genma growled lowly, mainly to himself, "Stupid boy... All your fault..."
"Oh-kay... This is wierd..."
"You can say that again..," Misato commented.
"Oh my!" Kasumi said as she came into the room, "Everyone's back!"
"In body at least..."
"Well then, I suppose that it's a good thing that I made enough desert for when they came back..."
"What did you make?"
"Rasberry jello!" the eldest Tendo girl declared as she held out a clear bowl of the jiggling reddish substance, "See?"
Both of her sisters shrieked in terror and grabbed onto the pigtailed boy while the two fathers headed for opposite corners of the room.
"What's wrong?"
The genie winced while gingerly guiding Kasumi away. "I don't think that's a good idea right now. Why don't you put it aside, and we'll see about having some later?"
"Oh... okay..."
"Good..."
"Ya know somethin' though?" Ranma mused with a fatalistic edge, "Even if I ain't gonna get bashed at the moment, this still can't be somethin' good."
"Trust me, where they went to wasn't good at all."
"I thought so," the pigtailed boy replied as he tried to deal with two shivering, naked, and slime covered girls clutching his shirt as far apart from each other as they could while:
