"Why don't you," Nabiki said with obvious sarcasm, "make me worth my weight in gold."
"Fine," Ranma shot back. "You're made of gold." And as he did, the tattoo on his hand flaired brightly.
KLANK!!!!
Akane and Kasumi heard the strange metallic sound that had come from where their sister had been standing and turned to see what had caused it. Both gasped at the sight before them.
Nabiki stood in her typical sketical pose, with her arms folded across her chest. Her face still held its sarcastic expression. In fact, everything about the seventeen-year-old was exactly as it had been just a few moments before...with one exception. From head to toe, the girl was now a rich, metallic cold color.
"Nabiki?" Akane called softly, as she watched her oldest sister walk over to the unmoving girl.
Kasumi looked over Nabiki for a few minutes, taking in the entire gold effect. Then, she reached up and use her fingernail to tap her sister on the cheek, producing a solid ringing sound. "Oh, my," she said.
Slowly, the still-mobile Tendo sisters turned back toward the boy that had turned their sibling into a statue of solid gold. Ranma sat on the ground, his eyes moving from the gilded Nabiki to the tattoo in his hand. "It works," he said with a strange tone in his voice. "It actually works."
