“N-No! I mean no thank you,” Maya replied, “I don’t think there is anything I need.”
With that stated, the doctor’s assassinate started to take her leave until the Wizard called out to her again, “Are you sure? I can give you anything.”
Maya slowly nodded as she kept walking forward, ‘He doesn’t seem to right in the head…’ she thought as she continued to walk down the street towards her apartment, ‘Probably just another one of those people trying to scam money off the unknowing.'
“I can help you with anything!” He shouted as she began to turn the corner, “I know… you are the unconfident type. Scared to tell the one you love how you feel right?”
The straight out explanation of her character brought her to a halt, “H-How do y-you know?” She stuttered finding herself awestruck for a brief moment.
He smiled as he stroked his chin, “I guess it’s just something about you, but nonetheless I have something that can help you!”
Maya watched the man’s excitement spark as he could barely contain himself, almost like she was his first customer but the gleam in his eye told her otherwise.
“Wait here!” He demanded as he dashed into the shop leaving Maya standing outside.
‘I don’t believe I fell for that…’ she chastised herself for falling for the ‘I know your type trick, ‘It only got me because that’s how I really am…’
Her grip on her purse tightened as she realized that she really didn’t have that much self confidence and she was never in a relationship of anytime…
“Here!” The wizard shouted as he burst through the door.
Maya nearly screamed from shock and fought to catch her breath, “T-Thanks… What… is it?”
“It’s a potion I made with special herbs from faraway lands…” He softly spoke as if reciting a poem, “To explain the unique taste and the feeling that comes afterwards is impossible… One must see for his or herself.”
“Um… you’re not trying to give me drugs are you?”
“Of course not!” He countered.
The amusing mood the man was in before disappeared as serious expression came to his face, “I can tell by the way you behave that you’re not very sure about yourself… You probably never even had a boyfriend before have you?”
“Well…”
Despite the lack of a decent reply to his inquires, he pressed on, “You used to be teased when you were young because they pretended you were a boy right? You were so busy with you technology your parents got worried that you wouldn’t be able to marry and tried to set you up a lot right?”
Her silence was enough for him to acknowledge that most, if not, all of it was indeed true.
“If that is the case, drink this… and it will make you a stronger person. No one will push you around.” He placed the bottle in her palm, “Use it.”
Maya held back the memories of being tormented day after day by her so called friends and dug in her purse for some money to pay for it, “H-How much?” she asked with a hollow voice now devoid of her normal vigor.
He turned away and waved her off as if he was about to regret doing something, “You can have it, you look like you really need it.”
“See you,” the man said as Maya began to walk away.
Almost forgetting her manners, she turned to offer a quick thank-you but the Wizard was already gone…
