The Date: Meanwhile [Episode 95265]

by Philip Weigel

In a modest house, sitting at a table in the kitchen, was a young man around twenty-five to twenty-six years old wearing a black shirt, brown pants and some black sneakers, who was around five-foot-eleven, with black hair tied in a long pigtail that went down the majority of his back, and blue-gray eyes that seemed saddened slightly, yet willing to go on and storm ahead in life. Lifting a mug off of the table he took a drink of the contents within and gagged a bit. “Bleah!” He turned to the person sitting at the table across from him, the person had short, black hair and brown eyes. “I really don’t see how you can drink coffee, Ace.”

The pilot, Kevin “Ace” Koss, who was dressed in brown pants, a dark green shirt and his boots, chuckled at his housemate. “Hey, yo. It keeps me from fallin asleep when I’m tired and have to work all day.”

Ranma smirked and chuckled at the pilot and his friend. “Hey, Ace?”

“Hmm? Yo, what’s up my man?” The pilot then took a swig of his own coffee.

“Thanks for putting up with me for the past three years.” He was truly grateful for that at least, most people he knew wouldn’t have put up with him, his nightmares and other things for three long years without some sort of ulterior motive.

Ace waved it off. “Hey, you like a brother to me ever since you were that seven-year-old kid at that base in Japan that I was at while learnin how to fly a plane with Gramps.” He shook his head and sighed. “Sides, I never turn down someone in need of help like you were that day eight years ago.” He still couldn’t believe how banged up Ranma had looked when he hobbled into the airport that day. It had taken a few days of rest at the nearest hospital for his friend to get completely better.

The young man smirked lightly and shook his head a bit. Those were some fun times in his youth. “Still, you helped me out in a lot of ways.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose. “I still haven’t thanked you enough for getting me some mental help with my problems.”

Ace shrugged, it didn’t matter much to him, he was just helping out a friend. “Hey, when you travel as much as I do, you’re bound to pick up contacts and friends, even if they aren’t pilots.

Ranma nodded and stared off into space a bit, thinking about those sessions that he had taken. It had taken five years of psychological help, as well as working out to ‘vent’ his frustrations out. At least now he could honestly say he was better off than he was before. The nightmares had lessened in both occurrences and intensity, though it took another three years for the nightmares to trickle down to just once a week.

‘Course,’ he thought to himself with a smirk, ‘the surrounding area wasn’t always better after I “vented” a bit.’

“Hey Ace,” He spoke after a bit. “Why’d you set up a date for me? I mean, I’m not mad or anything, but, well, I’m just surprised is all.”

Ace raised an eyebrow and shook his head a bit. “It’s been almost a decade since you’ve done anything concerning a girl. Whether or not anything comes from this, I want you to go out and have some fun tonight.” He got up from his seat and walked to the door. “Trust me on this, you need to go out and have some fun tonight okay?” And if Ace knew Gina correctly, she’d help Ranma get over his depression that he had for the past eight years.

His friend nodded and scratched his chin a bit. “I see. Hey, what is this girl like?”

The pilot smirked at him. “She’s a nice girl, a real hot blonde. Course, if my girl heard me sayin that, she’d kill me.” Ace chuckled a bit morbidly. “Well, see you later my man. Have fun.”

Ranma nodded as his friend left. “Yeah, have fun he says.”
