Rei wasn't exactly dumb but she had to be shown EVERYTHING. And every little detail had to be explained.
Dusting required showing her how to use a featherduster, then going back and collecting the broken items and explaining how much force to use.
Ranma quickly got exhausted from all this.
Not that Rei was unwilling. Tell her to do something and she'd go at it. Not enthusiastically but she did it. Not that she wasn't capable of learning - she was.
She also tired out and was ready to fall over at one point. So Ranma had to show her a spare bed, and explain sleeping. Also drinking water when she was thirsty.
About the time she came to him explaining a feeling of discomfort and that her sheets had become damp, Ranma was figuring this was probably why Froderick had never used that spell to make a housecleaner. You could do it yourself with a lot less effort and expense.
The next day his magical studies kept getting interrupted by explaining something to Rei.
Ranma decided about noon that he HAD to do something. To that end, he went with the first solution to occur to him:
