Obviously she had been splashed by cursed water out of Jusenkyo, and now would be changing just about every time she got wet.
What was not immediately clear was what creature she was. It was obviously furry, and longer than it was wide, but other than that, she didn't know what she had become. After all, she didn't have a guide going on about 'too tragic stories' to let her know exactly which pool the water had come from.
But she did have deranged self-deluded ecoterrorists.
The one holding her by the scruff of her neck cheered. "It worked! She's a ferret! A black footed ferret!"
"I can see that," Gaia said drolly.
"Of course, this means that we can begin our project with little to worry about," Rhea observed.
"Exactly, and soon the planet will win over those who would defile it."
"Perhaps gaining the perspective of the creatures they all disdain so much will make them realise what crimes they have been committing."
"You hear that?" the man holding the newest member of the Jusenkyo-cursed populace, moving his gloved hands so that he could look in her eyes. "Everyone is going to be just like you!"
She bit him on the nose.
"OW!"
His burst of pain made him let go of her, and she scurried out, running past all of them in the hopes of finding a way out. Hopefully these idiots were so clueless that they wouldn't think of a problem with a free animal so that she could get away. But she wasn't about to pin her future on that, and her mind was already working hard on various ways of escaping.
However, even as she ran, one thought managed to bump its way into her brain. 'Bleh. He tasted terrible...'
And as the 'ecological defenders' scurried to deal with one escaping ferret,:
